Have not received an item purchased

I have not received the item I purchased. I contacted the seller to provide the tracking number, he did not respond. I checked his feedback and it looks like two other people also have not received their purchases from him. When I want to report the item that I have not received, it takes me to a page that says this item is covered by business equipment purchase protection program. However, the price is less than $1,000, so it is not eligible for that protection. I can't find any other way to report it. I can't count on the seller's help. It looks like he is not responding to anybody and I want my money back. How can I find help?

eBay does not currently have a public number for you to call -- beware scam numbers listed in ads on search engine pages. Many will try to steal from you by requesting gift cards or getting you to allow remote access to your computer.

You have been scammed, @gramirecki. Listing categories such as business equipment, warranties, etc. are not covered by eBay purchase protection programs, and the listing, your listing clearly states that, still states that in the top section, in tiny font.

 

eBay is aware of this scam, but is working each one by one as each buyer asks. Leave a private message here for eBay on Facebook, or open a throwaway Facebook account, and tell eBay that you'd like your money back.

Has the last estimated delivery date passed yet?  If it has not,  ebay will not allow you to open a dispute, until the last date has passed.   eBay does not require sellers to use tracking or post the number if they have one.  Tracking is for the seller's protection not buyers. 

 

If for example you bought a watch that was listed in the Business equipment category, then you are not covered by the Money Back Guarantee, and on the listing page it would have stated that.  You should have checked the category the item was listed under, In the Example; (Jewelry & Watches) to make sure it was listed in the proper category.

 

If you go to ebay's Facebook page to report a miss-categorization you will need to have the seller's username, the 12 digit ebay item number. (not the order number with hyphens) Leave a clear message saying what happened, The item you bought (item title here) was intentionally listed under the wrong category.   Leave your real name, your ebay username, and a contact method, Phone# or email address.  It can take up to 3 days for a rep to get back to you.

If the item is posted in more than one category, the standard money back guarantee cannot be automatically invoked when one of the categories has a special status such as the Business & Industrial Heavy Machinery category, the Real Estate category or the Warranties & Insurance category.

 

The scammers have found a nasty loophole that eBay needs to plug quickly to stop others from being victimized.

Although it says there's no coverage when you click the button, perhaps keep trying for a different outcome.

 

Items listed in the wrong category on purpose should still be covered by eBay, the problem is that in order to get satisfaction the buyer will have to contact eBay customer service directly rather than simply using the standard automated process.

You can file a claim through paypal or your credit card, (whichever way you paid for the item).
