HELP

I bought a $1,000 item. I contacted the seller to get some info and didn't hear back. I opened a "return item" claim and the seller quickly denied it as he doesn't accept returns. I haven't received the item, any correspondence from the seller or a refund from eBay. I have talked with eBay a couple of times. Last Friday, I was told to keep my line open for a call back that day. It's now Tuesday, no call back. I called again, this time, the rep said my item isn't covered for money back guarantee. I got upset and he mumbled something and put me on hold (I'm guessing to talk to the next "level" person). I've been on hold for over an hour. I'm guessing the "glitch" in this is that I opened a "return item" claim before receiving the item. This is taking up a LOT of my time and I can't afford to be out a thousand dollars!

With all due respect, you can't return something you don't have, so I am not sure why you opened this type of case.  Also, you don't buy or bid if you have questions on the item.  If you have not paid, seller can open an unpaid item case, and close it if you don't pay, which will give you a strike.  Just a few and you won't be able to buy from thousands of sellers for a year.

Sorry this is taking up a lot of your time; that is why it is best to be very sure before you buy something.  Good Luck to you!

Ah, digital goods. Not a good idea.

Anyway, your seller has probably been removed for selling licensed software keys.  Although you can call eBay and try to resolve this (google the number)  it would be easier to file a claim with Paypal. In your case, I would use non receipt

Do you see the problem here?  If you have not received something, you cannot reasonably request to return it.  Furthermore, if you haven't received the item and no correspondence from the seller, then how do you know why the seller denied the return?  It would be far more reasonable and rational to believe the return was denied because you had not received the item yet!

Did the CSR tell you WHY your purchase isn't covered under the money-back guarantee?

Re: HELP

I am both a buyer and a seller on eBay.  Your claims regarding protections all for the sellers, no way to contact eBay as a buyer, etc.  may be based on your perception but are not based in reality.

I suspect your upset is unjustly placed.  This Automater thing you're using sounds very much like a potential scam to me.  From their site, "How Automater works?  Purchased code goes to your customer within 22 seconds!"  If you didn't get your code, take it up with them.  And while you're at it, report whomever this is to eBay as possible fraud.  eBay is not responsible for someone using a third party program out of Poland to sell fraudulent goods.

You should open your own post about your problem since apparently it is just different enough that the two are getting confused.

Your item was digital, and the OPs was hard goods.

There are different policies.

'In either case, the answer is probably with either Paypal or the credit card you back your PP account with.
