Feedback Deleted Without Revision Request

I recently left feedback on an eBay seller for a hot tub sanitization product I purchased, which I later confirmed to be counterfeit through the manufacturer. However, my feedback was removed, and I was not notified of any revision request from the seller. 

As I understand eBay’s policy, if a seller wants a buyer to revise feedback, they need to follow the official feedback revision request process, which includes notifying the buyer. In my case, I did not receive such a notification, and yet the feedback was removed. The manufacturer rep told me using counterfeits could raise the chemical levels above safe limits for people, so it was important feedback. 

Could anyone clarify why this happened? Was there an error in the revision process, or is there a policy I may not be aware of regarding feedback on counterfeit items?

Sellers can request feedback removals. These removals do not require the feedback revision process or any interaction from the buyer that left the feedback.

Feedback removals are mainly completed with AI after a feedback removal is requested by the seller. 

Some sellers have feedback protections that are invoked automatically in certain situations where completed refunds are involved.

Same here...I left honest negative feedback for a seller who was extremely slow to post and it's been deleted with no notification and I wanted to know why...Got the grand run around from eBay assistant, never once being able to communicate with a human...What's the use of feedback if you can't leave honest feedback...??

Sadly, its probably the one thing that sellers might have to protect themselves.

I have three negatives I need to leave for 3 different sellers from last week.  I have yet to do so.

Two of the three fully refunded me and had me keep the item.  The third had me send it back and then I get a refund once its received.

While it sounds like it should be a good result (for my pocketbook) all three sellers were peddling bootleg DVD collections.  I know I need to leave a negative and call that out to warn others to prevent them from making the same mistake I did.  But I also know its pretty unlikely those will stick and stay there being how they can get removed, because the sellers refunded, etc.

Its a sucky spot to be in.  However I figure I will wait it out a bit, and leave them later on.  Maybe that will stick better, I don't know.  I wouldn't want to see anyone else get hit with the same poor quality bootleg packages, and many have bought them unfortunately.

One possible reason the feedback was deleted was that tracking showed the seller shipped within their stated handling time, which can be anywhere from one-day to 30 days.

If the feedback you left violated policy and the seller reported it, it would be removed. 

If the feedback didn't violate a policy but the seller asked you to revise it, that's when you get a feedback revision request.

I left a neutral for a seller today and it was removed by eBay without the seller even seeing it. I guess this is the norm on this site? It's no wonder buyers get different items than they order from sellers. Sellers have perfect feedback because of eBay helping them. Fooling buyers.

It's doubtful it was removed without the seller seeing it. EBay doesn't proactively police feedback. They respond if a seller reports the feedback as having broken one of the feedback rules. Without knowing what the feedback said it's impossible to know the grounds for their removal request. But I can assure you that not all sellers have perfect feedback.

Automated Filtering or Error: It's possible that eBay’s automated systems flagged your feedback due to certain keywords or content related to counterfeit items. Sometimes systems make mistakes and remove feedback that doesn't actually violate any policies.

Policy on Feedback Regarding Counterfeit Items: Generally, eBay encourages factual feedback about your experience. Since you confirmed with the manufacturer that the product was counterfeit, your feedback should be valid. There isn’t a clear policy that suggests feedback about counterfeit units must be removed unless it violates other content guidelines, which doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Next Steps: I recommend reaching out directly to eBay customer support. Explain that you did not receive any revision request from the seller, and that your feedback—which highlighted a serious issue confirmed by the manufacturer—was removed without explanation. Ask them to review the situation and reinstate your feedback if it complies with their guidelines.

EBay never reinstates feedback after they've removed it. Once it's gone, it's gone.

ebay will not take a buyer's word that an item is counterfeit, regardless of any alleged confirmation between the buyer and manufacturer.  In the eyes of the ebay hierarchy, it's all here say.  The feedback situation here is EXACTLY  as @kathiec states.

I stated the product was verified by the manufacturer as counterfeit and the seller asked me to not give bad feedback.

Alleged confirmation nor written documentation, it’s all the same really as nobody at the company cares either way. Unless the manufacturer cares to request to stop it, crime pays on eBay.

Crime doesn't pay on eBay unless you let it. All you had to do was, within 30 days of receiving the product, go to the item in your purchase history, click Return under More actions, and select that the product was not as described. You would have gotten a return label, and once the seller received the return a full refund. And just as important, MBG returns count against seller metrics; feedback doesn't.
