Ebay is removing negative feedbacks on sellers? Bad news.

I trusted the Ebay feedback system. Not any longer. I purchased an item . Four weks later still did not receive it. Asked a polite  question to the seller. In response received threats and obsceniies. Left a neg FB. The next day it was removed by Ebay. No explanation. So my $35 were stolen/pocketed by a dishonest person and my neg FB on him was removed.  Losing these small amount won`t kill me. But now  I know that FB system is just a joke.

@abba80

I copied and pasted your number (completed items) but the total cost is not the same as you state.  Is it a

makiita 12v cxt jobsite radio. model rmo2?

You need to open an item not received claim in the Resolution Center.  That will get you your refund.

You can call eBay Customer Service, ask for Trust and Safety, ask them to read the messages from the seller to you, tell them you posted a negative, but eBay removed it.  Tell them what you said in your OP.  You should never have received seller responses like that.

Hope this helps.  Soory this happened to  you.

It looks like the seller used a very old trick. He shippid the item to an INTENTIONALLY WRONG address. With this he has a proof of shipping for Ebay. After sitting some time in the PO the package is deemed undeliverable and returned to sender. So he has the money and keeps the item in the same time.

In his email he tried to extort a pos FB from me (even without receiving the item!) and began threating in case if I do not do it.

But it is a minor thing. What really shocked me that Ebay removes negative FBs. So now I know that when I see the 100% positive rating of a seller it is very possible that he defrauded hundreds of people and their FBs were just removed by Ebay.

To be honest, I trusted the Ebay FB system. I used to tell all my friends that it cannot be manipulated by dishonest people.

30 bucks is not a big deal. But lost trust in the Ebay FB system - is a real shock.

Did you open a INR dispute?  If you waited 4 weeks, you might have waited too long to file on eBay so you may have needed to file on PayPal.  Of course, leaving any type of feedback before a dispute is settled isn't usually a good idea.

eBay usually only removes feedback if it violates one or more of their feedback rules.  Could it be that your feedback left may have crossed over the line set by those rules?

Beware! Seller pocketed money. I never received the item.

This was my FB.  Is it against any rules?  We are supposed now to say only - "Thank you for the great transaction! Will buy again! A+ seller!!" ?

OK. I got the message. But losing trust in the integrity of the Ebay FB system after more than 20 years of buying and selling - it hurts a bit.

Something seems to be unhealthy with our society.

Why didn't you file a INR dispute?  Basically you accused the seller of theft, but weren't willing to go through the procedure to protect your interest?!

Oh man!

Of course I did!

After pationately waiting for three weeks I sent a very kind and gentle enquiery. In response I received THREATS AND DEMAND TO LEAVE HIM A POS FB!!   With more threats if I do not do it. I was really shocked. That vulgar and rude response motivated me to leave a neg FB right away. My first neg FB in many-many happy years on Ebay.

Of course I have met bullies and vulgar low class persons in my life. But to run into one on Ebay was something that got me unprepared.

And I filed a "Not Received" claim of course. But after Ebay removed my neg FB, I won`t be surprised if I won`t see these miserable 30 bucks back at all.

What a big difference between Ebay of yesterday and Ebay of TOMORROW!

A very bad experience with a dishonest person. But even more with my beloved Ebay protecting and supporting him.

The underlined, is why your negative was removed, and why you will not be able to get your money back.   eBay decides Item Not Received (INR) disputes based on tracking information.  One of the very few reasons eBay will remove a negative feedback, is a buyer claims INR, but there is tracking showing delivery or attempted delivery.

While I feel bad this happened to you, in a way it is your own fault. You admit knowing about the old scam, but didn't protect yourself from it.  If tracking info was uploaded to the listing, you should have been tracking it.  You could have requested the delivery address from the USPS, if tracking showed an attempted, or refused delivery, and you didn't receive an attempted delivery notice, or refuse the package. With that info you could have won an INR, and your neg would have stuck.

How do you know the seller sent it to in "intentionally wrong address"?  If it was sent to a legitimate address it would have been delivered there.  If there wasn't any such address the post office wouldn't have held it~~they would have immediately returned it to the seller.  Is it possible YOUR post office held it waiting for you to pick it up and you failed to do that so they returned it as unclaimed?

The seller has proof it was sent to your zip code and that is all he needed.  When a seller gets a package returned to them the buyer loses their buyer protection.  The seller must have supplied you with the tracking number~~when it didn't arrive it was your responsibility to check the tracking.  It most likely would have said it was being held for pick up and you failed to pick it up so it was returned to the seller.

Not true.

First, we receive about a dozen packages a day and postman leaves them in a designated secure area.

Second, we do not work and we stay at home all day to receive a package personally if needed.

Third, if a PO attampted to deliver and it was successful a note is left on the door. "Seller" claimes there were three attempts. Not a single note was left.

And fourth. When I POLITELY asked the seller if he sent with "signature required", instead of a reply he started sending obsenities and threats. In particular demanding a POSITIVE FB under threat TO CONTACT LE AUTHORITIES AGAINST US if we refuse to give him a pos FB.

I could never expect such a slime to exist in this First World country.

I sincerely hope and pray that this person pays a good price for his dirty tricks. One way or another. Dirty, miserable, disgusting, and totally indecent.

Correct. This is the trick.

He has a proof that he sent to the ZIP CODE. But he HAS NO proof that he sent TO MY ADDRESS. Because he did not.

In my books persons like this one do not deserve to be called humans.

Period.

The feedback was removed because you lost the case, when hthe seller provided delivery confirmation.

What does the tracking say?  If it was sent to your zip code it was being held at your post office.  Had you checked the tracking you would have seen it was at your post office and gone there to claim it.  If it wasn't addressed to you, you could have taken a pic of the package to prove the seller sent it to someone else and not to you.

@abba80,

"He has a proof that he sent to the ZIP CODE. But he HAS NO proof that he sent TO MY ADDRESS. Because he did not".

Maybe you ae not aware but by checking on the tracking info, you could have contacted the USPS if the package was being held, and requested the GPS coordinates of the delivery attempt or location.  I had to do that during the holidays, when a package went astray.  The seller did a hand written label and interposed the first two house address numbers.  Because of that it was handled by another carrier whose route was across a main avenue, from our street. So they did not recognize the name. It took some doing but I was able to get the seller to intercept the package, since it was at the P.O. and get it delivered.  It did come close to being sent back though.
