EBAY purchase and received from the River via Prime!

Is raising the Prime Membership another $20.00 per year because of drop shippers that use the River?  Was in touch with my seller and was told that it was perfectly OK to use their Prime account for eBay purchases.  What?  And that 'gift' receipt just made life perfect for that one moment!!!!!!!!!!

The seller paid more for the item then I could have purchased it through my Prime account.  Now that is a well thought out business plan!!!!  And they are Power Sellers!  Wake up eBay and start closing down accounts that don't follow the rules.

Am I seeing things wrong here?  If I had wanted to buy from the River I would have done that.  Did my homework prior to the purchase and chose the best price.

Can't leave feedback for a few days and because of my experience I'm thinking a Red Donut will be appropriate.

It was a product that I needed and was not just a 'want' purchase.  Still the drop shipping should not have happened.

Oh -- that Prime packing tape made me feel real special!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting off my ole' preaching stump now.

I filed Item As Described, not for a remorse.  Sent the seller pictures of the difference in their listing versus what was received.  That was when I was told by the seller that I would have return to China at my cost!!!!!!  Nope, that's now it works!

Did you choose “doesn’t fit” as the option ?

No, I filed a SNAD.  With a little welding we can make the three parts work cause you can't stretch metal to fit an existing machine.

and i would add to my first post here on this...Amazon does hire a lot of people..a lot of people who work and need the money too...SO just to bash Amazon because you have opinions..REMEMBER, there are mouth to feed and plenty of employees that all get something out of all this internet/omline selling..RIGHT?

so with all this drop shipping, no one is breking the law, hurting anyone really..and plenty of jobs are being filled by working - tax paying people .... not just the sellers that are using the Amazon prime to drop ship  on ebay.....

I completely understand what you are saying and do agree.  However, in this case, the seller lied about location.  They are in China and not in the United States as plastered all over their listings and on the Feedback page.

Yes, the shipping was fast and at first the three metal pieces appeared to be correct.  Once we went to install them is when we found out they would not work.  We could have made them work with welding and decided not to.

There are actually several things about this transaction that doesn't sit well with me.  The first was the Amazon shipping.  Then the communication with the seller became somewhat challenging and then, when I requested a return through ebay -- the seller contacted me through a private email that I would have to return to China at my expense.

I would post the messages between us and that is against posting rules.  I actually quit responding to the seller after their 2nd message and I still received three additional ones from the seller than the final one to my private email (not eBay messaging system).

average pay of AMZN worker is $28k a year and they work their fingers to the bone.

When y ou talk about AMZN creating job,it could be a zero sum game, many traditionl brick and mortar stores have been wiped out or downsized,so plenty of folks have lost their jobs

If I understand what you are saying, seller is in China but items were shipped from US AMZN warehouse and some items do not work.

SELLER THRU PRIVATE MESSAGING asked you to return t o China, why?

Why are you using private messaging instead of Ebay?

if you go thru Ebay to file INAD,Ebay will ask seller to give you a return label ,now it gets interesting, what would his return address be?

it would depend on what he entered as return address with his Ebay account,if it is China, then he cant send you a return label but he is still expected to pay for return.

ask him why cant you return to AMZN ,of course you have to reference his AMZN prime account so he can get the refund ?

I did not use private messaging at all.  My initial contact was through the messaging system.  After I filed a SNAD, it was the seller that sent me a message to my private email address.

Personally, I think the return to China is a way to get the buyer or buyers not to return anything.  Could be wrong.

Yes, I know - that "gift" insert - makes me wander over to the River and see HOW MUCH I could have saved buying it at the original location - but we have prime - so any new stuff I NOW normally go to the River and buy it - saves on the hassle of a third party (ebay, shipper, third party) if it arrives damaged.

However, why should there be any mention of it in feedback on eBay?

The violation of my trust is between me and the seller, and yeah, that's a Big Red Circle.

That seems to mean that anyone that doesn't agree with your way of thinking deserves to have you bad mouth them in feedback even though they have committed no infraction except, one that you have in your mind.  Frankly, I would, as a seller, consider such a thing by a buyer to be a violation of my trust.  After all, there is no rule that requires I not do what has you upset.  Surely a seller has the right to expect a buyer to be reasonable in their expectations and not be vindictive in leaving feedback based on something that the seller could not possibly have know, unless you had informed them prior to your making the purchase.  Would you advise a seller prior to bidding or buying of your feelings toward drop shipping from Amazon?  If not, how could the seller be expected to know them since the practice is not against eBay policy?

The only difference I can see is the box and the fact that you know for certain where the item came from. Would you have felt better if the seller had bought it from the River, had it mailed to their house, repackaged it into a plain shipping box and then sent it to you? My point is that you don't know if items you buy from ebay originate from the River. You have no way of knowing where the item came from.  As long as you got what you ordered, I don't see the problem. Sorry

I personally reuse Amazon boxes for most of my sales.  They are the correct size and if necessary I reinforce them.

Yes, exactly that.  Of course they would need to have bought it and received it BEFORE listing it here.

in the rest of the world, retailers BUY from wholesalers and resell for profit, the risk being product doesnt sell. dropskimmers SELL first and then buy from another source! while profit may not be as great, risk is greatly reduced. the end buyer is the one that suffers if there is an issue! returns can be problematic, out of stock becomes a concern and seller often doesnt even know what the item is! while many sellers/brokers will argue it makes no difference, plenty of buyers complain about it. i could care less how much they profit from a few minutes on their smart phone, i do care that i bought an item they dont have yet!
