Does eBay Take Thretening Messages Seriously?

Hey

I just had a rather harrowing experience with a seller.

Cut a long story short, a "item not received" case was opened. The seller sent messages, the first saying they sent the item and i'm just lying to get it free. They ended with "I know where you live :)".

The second in All Caps with some choice words directed at me, it carries on.

Now eBay does say this violates their policies but that whatever they decide won't be shared.

That's fair enough but i was just wondering?

Also, if i leave a Neg will it just make matters worse...

Anyone who has been through this feel free to chime in...

Cheers

If you feel threatened, report it.

That is inappropriate.

Good luck.

Does the item have tracking? Does it show delivered? What was the estimated delivery date?

If it has none of the above then you should not worry about the case you opened.

Nasty sellers happen sometimes, I would not worry about their veiled threat.

eBay talks a good game but they do not get involved in he said- she said interpersonal disputes.

Ignore the messages and push on with your claim.

@global.brandssaid:

"Thank you i did..."

Good.

Does this happen when you take a item back to a store?

Someone else in another post was a little upset because they wanted more interaction with sellers, like the old days. You have been around here for a while, you understand.

EBay has to sort this out now. This could be a example of why interaction is bad.

Buying and selling can get frustrating when there are issues, but...

Sorry.

Report anyway,  one or even two reports of abuse may do little, but how do you know they have not been reported for this before, and adding to those reports can maybe incite eBay to take action. C&P the messages into the report as well to save them checking.

Takes no time at all, and why should the seller not get a warning from eBay ?

Don't forget to go back and escalate your claim if the seller can not provide tracking. I would have thought uploading a tracking number in to the case would be quicker than sending you a nasty message, so I suspect they don't have one.

And yes to the negative feedback, if as the seller said ''I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE'' you should have received your item!

@global.brands,

  "if i leave a Neg will it just make matters worse".

If there is tracking that has a delivered scan, the feedback can be removed so I would hold off on that.  You were asked that question but did not answer it, and the answer could affect whether or not you win the dispute you have filed.   If there was tracking that showed Delivered you will lose the dispute.  We can tell you how to appeal and get a refund and be able to leave a feedback that will remain.

Usually, threats like the one you received are empty ones, especially if they do not live near by. What's the seller going to do, send a hit squad after you?  Because you buy and sell on the same ID, you should add the seller's username to your Blocked Buyer List, to keep the seller from trying to retaliate.

Other than agreeing with reporting it, I would not worry about that threat. Those come across in the same vein as the "You will be hearing from my attorney...." threats.

I'm not sure of what you consider threatening.  If you believe it to be a viable threat of violence, I advise you to report it to your local authorities.
