I placed my 1st order on ebay
and after paying and the seller charged me the full amount
i discovered that the item will not arrive in time
so I cancelled the order after just 4 minutes and it wasn’t shipping yet of course
so how to go from here,,, the seller should refund the money as ebay rules stated?
help😭

The listing has an expected delivery date you can see before you pay.
You can ask to cancel but the seller is not obligated to cancel although most sellers do.
If the seller doesn't cancel you can resell it if the seller doesn't accept returns. If their policy is returns accepted you can return it if you no longer want it.

You're mistaken about what eBay rules state. They specifically state that while you can request a cancellation the seller is never obligated to accept. If your seller is a dropshipper they may not be able to cancel. It's your responsibility to check the estimated delivery dates before you buy.

This is for the order from the UK? The estimated delivery time is plain enough to see on the listing before you bid.

I thought buyers could cancel within 60 minutes??

They can ask to cancel. If the seller doesn't respond, the transaction is automatically cancelled. But the seller always has the right to say no, no matter how quickly the request comes.

@stainlessenginecovers I have never seen anything even close to that in any policy.
Do you have the policy?

That’s exactly what I’m thinking about and what I’ve read on ebay cancellation rules
😭😭

@chena-4806 That is not correct.
Messages 5 and 6 are not correct.
Once you buy you can "request" to cancel but the seller does not have to cancel.
There is no timeline and there is not automatic if the seller does not respond.

The seller’s name has “London” in it, that should have been a good indicator that the item would take a little while to arrive…

Not that long ago an eBay mod verified on this board that if a cancellation is requested in the first hour, and the seller doesn't take action to decline it, the cancellation will automatically be granted.

Here is the policy.
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behavior-policies/order-cancellation-policy?id=5298
Buyers can request but generally only sellers can cancel.
If the buyer has paid for the order and the seller doesn't respond by 3 days, eBay will close the request, and the order won't be canceled.
If the buyer hasn't paid for the order and the seller hasn't responded within the timeframe, eBay will automatically accept the cancellation.

But in this case, per the OP, the buyer paid for the item then requested the cancellation.
So the part I've highlighted in red applies.

The time to do your research is prior to making the purchase. You should have checked the estimated delivery period before making the purchase. That is on you.
While eBay allows buyers to request a cancellation up to an hour after the purchase is made, the seller is not required to agree to it.

Buyers are permitted to ask for a cancellation within the first hour after making the purchase. However, sellers are not required to agree to it.
