Cancel Order Issue

Has anyone had an issue with an order they have cancelled... seller approved cancelation, a week later declined it, item isn't expected to arrive until august ... any suggestions?

Re: Cancel Order Issue

@bi_lalbi_4slosrprkr,

A seller cannot agree to a cancellation, then change their minds, especially a week later. Once they agree they should have issued a refund if you had already paid.  How did you receive the message saying they have declined the cancellation? Was it through regular ebay messages, or did the message come through your regular email?  If the seller is located in China let us know that.

FYI, As a buyer all you can do is to request a cancellation. Even if you do that within an hour of paying, a seller does not have to agree to do that.   If your reason for requesting the cancellation was the lengthy delivery time frame, you should have checked that out Before buying the item. read the info in the link below.

Re: Cancel Order Issue

HI!

thanks for your reply, I received the message through my Ebay, and when I clicked on status it said order is still active. this was the sellers' exact words on July 7th

"I will get the ordered canceled for you and refund should come through Monday or Tuesday since I just emptied my eBay account."

so you can imagine my surprise on Tuesday (today ) to see this.

"We couldn't cancel your order because it's too late to cancel. You should receive your order by Aug 19, 2023"

Re: Cancel Order Issue

Saying "I will do xyz" is not the same thing as doing xyz.  The seller did not actually cancel the order.

Check the estimated delivery date given on your "Order confirmation" email from eBay.   That (if it's a range of dates, the last date in the range) is the date that counts  to set your 30 day window to file for Item Not Received (or for Significantly Not As Described if the item is actually delivered after that estimated delivery date).  The estimated delivery date in Purchase History is subject to change as the carrier sets and changes it.

Re: Cancel Order Issue

thanks so much for your reply. I ended up getting a hold of an eBay agent and they did just that. I hated to go that route though,  but the item is not being shipped until August 18th and the seller did say he would cancel it. ugh this is my first bad experience I'm hoping it's the last

Re: Cancel Order Issue

@bi_lalbi_4slosrprkr,

What the seller is doing is wrong, and they are probably doing it because you are an inexperienced member, and are hoping you do not know how ebay's Money Back Guarantee works. They may not have the item in stock, but want to keep you money. I'd bet they are probably registered in China or drop ship from there. They like using those long delivery time frames when items may not be in stock currently.

If you want to get a refund with out having to wait until August 9th, your best bet will be to contact ebay through their Facebook or Twitter  social media sites. (links below)

You will need the seller's username, and the 12 digit (no hyphens) ebay item number, which is on your order details page.  You will want to write out basically what has happened, giving the date you asked to cancel and their first response, then the rejection of the cancellation request. You ask the rep to check your ebay messages between you and the seller. Say that you hope to get a refund without waiting. Sign it with your real name and ebay username. You should get a response within a few days.

In the future check the feedback profile page of each seller you intend to buy from before buying.  You do that by clicking on the number in (  ) to the right of their username. Yours is currently (8). On the page that opens if the seller has received neutral or negative feedback click on the numbers of them, to read only those comments.  Do not go by feedback percentages alone, or the top rated seller, one of ebay's most reputable sellers... blurb. Especially, if the seller is registered in China and has a feedback percentage below 98.6%

Re: Cancel Order Issue

wow thats so helpful ! I don't have any social media ..I've only purchased a few items on here and this is my one and only bad experience. The ebay agent seemed to understand what happened and reached out to the seller but also told me I would get a refund.

Thank you again for your reply, I really do appreciate the help!!
