WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO SUPPORT E-BAY ANYMORE...WHEN THEIR OWN GIFT CARDS ARE COMPLETELY USELESS WHEN BIDDING???!!!

If you go to place a bid or make an offer and get a pop up window saying, the payment method you gave ebay will be used if you win or have an offer accepted. You can't use a gift card.  You can use them at checkout for Buy It Now purchases.

These days because scammers have found ways to hack store bought gift cards, you may want to check a gift card's balance about 4 hours after buying one. Save your store receipt in case it was hacked.  Do an online search for Gift Card Scams 2024 for info on how to avoid GC scams and what to do.

Same problem.  Ebay won't take any of my credit cards anymore(worked for years, now not a single one of them works), so I go out and buy a $25 gift card.  Ebay won't let me use it to bid on a $10 dollar item.  No options in payment methods in my account page or after clicking bid.   Great job Ebay, you lost another customer.

You should have read the first reply before posting your issue.  If the credit card you placed on file when you registered this account, has expired or you cancelled it, you need to register the new one to your account's financial information.

There is an option to enter a gift card at checkout for Buy It Now items but it does not show up when you go to make an offer or bid on auctions.

As mentioned by @mudshark61369  in message #2, if the seller and eBay requires that you provide a payment source PRIOR to making a bid, your payment options are limited.  No Apple pay, Google pay, spendable funds, PayPal Pay in 4, PayPal credit, gift cards, etc.   Also, you will not be able to combine multiple auctions wins for one shipping price.  

Your option would be to find a seller who does NOT require this prepayment information, or use your gift card for fixed price listings.

All my credit cards are still valid and work fine everywhere except ebay.  Can't use gift cards to bid, so Ebay is essentially useless to me despite having mulitple payment sources.   Ebay deserves to tank for such pitiful corporate decision making.

Does a buyer, after bidding and winning, not have the option to use a "gift card" during the 1-hour window that eBay allows for payment prior to applying the preauthorized payment method?
