Bought dead GPU with no specific description

I've recently bought EVGA 8GB GPU for parts, but before I've contacted seller who said that GPU was obtained from he's friend, having no knowledge about history of equipment, so he naturally placed an item with an unknown backgound. Asking questions around condition or trobleshooting steps were useless and I understand that once you buy something with no clear description, you shouldn't expect something better, but when item was received, it was rusty, having clots of dust inside and board was missing some conductors, so I wonder if seller should take some responsibility by providing accurate description of pruduct, or you need to interract with him personally, before decision is made. Thanks

If "Asking questions around condition or trobleshooting steps were useless", why did you buy the item?

Re: Bought dead GPU with no specific description

It depends on how it was sold. If it was sold as used, then it has to be working. If it was sold as non working for parts only then it can be non working.

Buyers almost never lose a not as described case no matter what.

Got to watch those items from seller's "friends".

Re: Bought dead GPU with no specific description

I took a risk and own it, no questions about that but Sellers should be more specific about condition of the product. I hoped that GPU could still be revived back, as it could be minor issue related with connection or else, while upon receival, it was already obvious the card was missing some semi-conductors, which is totally useless, so didn't worth even e cent.

Re: Bought dead GPU with no specific description

Absolutely, I agree. But smuggling the condition isn't fair. You may still hope to fix that, knowing ahead that circuit board was untouched (he claimed didn't opened it, supporting with having no interest to investigate), but think of it as gaining profit from an item which doesn't worth any dollar, that's different story... I was lucky enough to negotiate to lower down the price by 60$, but you may observe that some are willing to buy for couple of hundred dollars, almost knowing nothing about real condition. That sucks
