I am located in Illinois, U.S.A. and the seller is located in Croatia. He listed a camera that was broken and I bid on it and won the auction. I did everything according to what I was supposed to do to follow the rules. The seller said I asked for the cancellation, which I didn't because I really wanted the camera, even if it was broken, because I could use it as parts for another identical one I have or even fix it myself. When I asked why my order was cancelled, he said that shipping in Croatia to American was suspended right now. I wrote back and told him I didn't mind waiting, just send it whenever shipping was resumed. He wrote back telling me I was rude and then blocked me. I got the camera for under $3, and I think the seller was hoping to get more for it, and that's why he cancelled the order. The eBay notification I received said I won the item - quote "You won this auction. The seller has relisted this item." It can't be both things at the same time. I never got the item, because he cancelled the order and refunded my money. I didn't want my money refunded, I just wanted the camera.
He relisted the item, and using the exact same wording in the second auction. Since I was blocked from bidding on it, and I really wanted it, I had a friend bid on it for me. She bid the same thing I had bid and had the high bid of around $2. Then, before the auction ended, the seller cancelled it YET again and the page said "This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing." If there was an error in the listing, why didn't he correct it the second time he tried to sell it? I still think he wasn't getting out of it what he wanted and that's why he cancelled it. True, the bid amount was very small, but the shipping was pretty high, which I didn't mind to pay.
I received a notification from eBay about leaving feedback on the transaction, so I went and left negative feedback. Buyers need to be aware of sellers like this who keep cancelling their auctions.
I can't find out from eBay what's going on and now the negative feedback I left him is gone. It doesn't even show up in my page of the feedback I've left for others. Can somebody please explain what is going on? Why are sellers allowed to do whatever they want? I did nothing wrong - I simply bid and won an auction.
I want my camera!

If it had not been removed so quickly, I would be able to see what I said. This site, eBay, should not be able to change history like that and make it like what I said never really happened. Even if it was removed, there should be a record to say something, this comment was removed, but it said this....
I have contacted eBay about this seller, but I got an e-mail that told me they would look into it, but they wouldn't be able to tell me anything about what they find. What good is that to me? They said they would be able to tell the seller what they find, but he already knows what he did. I just want to know what happened and is there any way I can still get the auction I won?
Thank you everyone!
That was me that asked about the FB you left for the seller. Without knowing what you said, it is hard to give an opinion of what happened and why it was removed. Ebay has rules on FB and they only remove the FB if it is in violation of one of those rules.
The other question I asked you was what did the email you got from Ebay say was the reason the seller filed the cancellation? This is important information for you to know. The seller has very limited reasons they can choose from to cancel an order. If the seller filed it stating you asked them to cancel the transaction [which is likely], that is falsifying records on Ebay as it was not true. The seller would do this so they don't get what is called a defect on their account. That hurts a seller and can affect their rating.
If the seller selected that reason, then that is something else you should report the seller for. Also if the seller used that reason, it may even be why your FB was removed.

I've had FIVE orders canceled by sellers during this difficult time. The latest was for a dog pen, seller said they found that it was damaged so canceled the order and refunded me. I did not want a refund, I need the pen! They are also a drop shipper and I figure like the other four items they just couldn't get them shipped. Just tell the dang truth! We all know that shipping is whacked all over the world.
Actually...
Unfortunately I suspect the seller messaged you about the damage and then chose "buyer asked" for the actual reason, however "Out of stock or damaged" is a valid reason the seller can choose for cancellation.

OOS is a reason but not OOS or damaged. However if the seller selects the OOS reason they will always get a defect on their selling account and can be seen on the Seller Dashboard.

One of the messages I received from eBay said this: "The seller canceled this order due to the following reason: Something was wrong with the buyer's shipping address." There is nothing wrong with my shipping address, I bought half a dozen or more items right before this camera and there were no problems with my shipping address in any of them. If my shipping address was one that he couldn't ship to due to the virus thing, he should have thought of that, shouldn't he have, and worded his auction to state no sales to the United States? That sounds like his problem, not a problem with my shipping address.
I also forgot to mention that it was one of those anonymous auctions where the bidder's names are all hidden. Why would a seller choose this option? Could it be so that him, using another account, or friends of his, were there to drive up the price? I'm pretty sure the auction had been up for at least 2 days with no bids. And right after I bid, there was another bidder that showed up and bid slightly over what I had bid. I had only bid as my opening bid, the minimum price, which he had marked as 1 GBP. I think it totalled to something like $1.22 in American dollars. When that happened, I said to the seller that there was something suspicious with a bidder that wants to remain hidden.
After I responded to the seller telling him I would wait until shipping resumed to the U.S., he replied with this: "Unfortunately, I have cancelled your purchase because I don’t know when the flights will resume. Do not tell me that the sale is suspicious!! I hate that kind of behaviour! If you hadn’t told me that, I would now let you buy again because I put a new listing."
I just realized that he said he would let me buy it again, but how would that have been possible? He still couldn't ship it to me. Nothing like this has ever happened to me, and I've been on eBay since 1998, so it's all very confusing.

One possible solution available to address a possible epidemic of inappropriate cancellations, when it is determined that a seller has willfully & knowlingly lied by providing a false claim such as buyer requested or problem with address to avoid a defect, would be for eBay to more severly sanction that seller, above that of a mere defect.

That is the other reason that can be chosen by a seller that doesn't result in a defect. It wouldn't have had anything to do with your FB being removed. So something in what you said in your FB violated policy to cause the removal.
Bidders names are hidden on all auctions to the public. The seller can see them but no one else can.
OH wait. If the seller was in a country that is having issues shipping due to covid19 issues, then you seller was absolutely correct in cancelling the transaction for a problem with the address. They would have no choice but to do that. A seller has zero control over the shipping rules and laws of their country. They have no choice but to abide by any ban their country has implemented due to the virus.
Some of the restrictions for covid 19 are very difficult for many of us to understand. But we need to respect them.
What country was your seller in?
With this new information you are now sharing, I think you may have over reacted with this seller. And it would explain why the FB was removed too. Ebay is not holding sellers at fault for shipping restriction in place by their country.

They do, the "damaged" option was not a part of OOS before, it was a separate option as "Lost / Damaged" if I recall but it's hard to keep up... I posted in another thread about "unreasonable demands" and just noticed that option to cancel isn't there now, probably have to go through the resolution center for that or who knows where they moved it to (or maybe it's been eliminated all together)... It's no problem, I also replied before gaining a full understanding of the situation, like yourself I am used to doing things a certain way...

You accuse the seller of doing something illegal (shill bidding), you should not be surprised that you are blocked. Pretty sure most sellers would run to their blocked bidder list when a bidder makes statements like this.
You aren't going to get the camera. Whether his reasons are valid or not doesn't matter. He is not going to sell to you.
Wasting any more time trying to force the seller to send it to you is pointless. And since you have already crossed the line of policy violation by trying to circumvent his blocked bidder list, you probably shouldn't bring this to eBay's attention.

It does however appear that the seller did have a very valid reason for not shipping. The buyer just really wants the item and is overlooking that the seller is apparently in a country that has some shipping restrictions due to covid 19.

Please stop being the heavy here. Your seller invited bids from a country to which they will not ship.
Knowingly. More than just one time. That's wrong.

When I read posts like yours I am reminded that buyers
need a "blocked sellers list."
One of the posts gave you a link to report the seller.
Best advice on here.
