Bad feedback I left for a seller disappeared

I'm pretty **bleep** off about this. I've been a buyer and seller on ebay since 1999. Recently I bought an item and the seller subbed a much cheaper product. I contacted them, they offered me a refund - but I had to send back the $3.00 item first. I'm not driving 25 miles to the post office to mail back a $3.00 item, when I ordered a $14.00 item. I threw it in the trash and left bad feedback for the seller.  The first time in 21 years I've ever left bad feedback.  Now it has disappeared.  I was never contacted for "my side of the story".

Ebay treats their sellers like this and then wonders why Amazon and Etsy are destroying them.

That is something that only the buyer can determine.  However, to come here complaining that one's negative feedback left has been removed when one has intentionally failed to follow through with the requirements of the buyer protection program is, in my opinion, the ridiculous.   Sorry!  In my opinion, the OP is, by posting this thread, merely exhibiting a penchant to display their feelings of entitlement.

Feedback should be allowed to be given regardless whether or not the buyer returns the item....you are letting people know about what you think of the transaction with the seller. If Ebay don't want to allow that then the feedback system is useless and should be dumped altogether.

Not 100% true. If it's not a huge package my post office picks up

Actually, feedback isn't allowed to be left by the party that loses the dispute for what I believe are obvious reasons.  In this case the issue stems from the OP's refusal to follow the procedure and return the merchandise in accordance with the rules of the MBG.  Don't play by the rules you get disqualified.

I do think this long ago used to be true but it's not now.  I've scheduled package pickup for several first class and one parcel select parcel post whatever it's called now...but I've done all this within this year

Oh and I don't know about Etsy I've never bought anything from there.  But except on one occasion amazon has always required me to return a not as described item.  And I've never left a seller over there feedback only ever done product reviews. So eBay removing feedback because the money back guarantee wasn't followed really isn't comparable to amazon. Amazon would still require the return in fact lately they've been super annoying with you have to take it to a ups store...closest being an hour from me.  Used to I could schedule ups to pick it up.

Re: Bad feedback I left for a seller disappeared

I am a seller of electronics and deal with fraud and people pulling game on us all the time, we have those wonderful buyers that buy something, rob the parts off of it then need then try to return it, we have had so many different fraud buyers it is unreal, my point of this is to explain simple logic, most of the time when I find what someone is doing like returning something "not as described" they usually do this just to get a free return shipping, that is fraud and it comes out of our pocket, when this happens alot it costs quite a bit, it does happen with 90% of the people who create returns but being the one that tests and repairs I do know what is possible and what is not.

When you fight the return or get the actual return and find someone is pulling a fast one you then deduct accordingly, this usually ends with ebay paying the person the difference and it is sad because what they are doing is supporting the fraud, we have seller protection which gives us this option, we almost always get negative feedback when this happens, I always fight to get it removed because it is always breaking the ebay terms of service, people will always lie and tell some lame story about what happened, when they do this you can have it removed just based on the lying, it is a defamation lawsuit just waiting to happen really.

I honestly am very tired of people committing fraud on our store as we do not make that much from the sales on ebay, our source is too high priced but that is another story.

I have left negative feedback on someone that honestly deserved it and did not lie a bit, cannot remember what it was now but it was deserved, ebay removed it a few days later, I do agree that there are sellers that are very shady and deserve it, can think of about six right off hand, best neg. feedback you can leave in my opinion is "I would not buy from this person again", short simple and to the point.

The Post Office picks up at your door for free. No need to drive anywhere. So that's should be used as a crutch. It takes about 5 seconds to open a pick-up request online.

You can even leave it in your mailbox so you don't have to meet the carrier. You do the package pickup request and it gives you a slew of options for the pick up (ring doorbell, in mailbox, porch, back of house, side door, etc...)
