My account got suspended right after I placed and paid for an order. I contacted ebay and they said that the account cannot be reinstated because the number listed on the account is an old number and cannot be verified which I find ridiculous.
My order never shipped and I got hold of the seller with a new account. Seller told me the item was out of stock and will cancel the order. Will I get my refund if my account has been suspended?

No because even if seller tries to 'cancel' the order and refund; the 'person that the item sold to' is now non-existent.

If your payment actually went thru.......file a Not Received with your payment entity......paypal/credit card, etc. to get the refund, if you don't get it.
I'm not sure if the "old number" refers to an expired credit card/bank account or what........

Hopefully this account wont get closed before you get answers.
Once an account is closed any others will also be closed.
IF you do not receive the item and you dont get a refund, contact your CC company.
Refunds go back to the CC you used so I dont see why there would be an issue of not having an eBay account.
You are refunded how you paid.
SO IF you do not receive the item, and the charge is on your CC, call your credit card company

The old number refers to the old phone number listed on the ebay account. In order for ebay to verify the account they want to text a code to that number which doesn’t exist anymore and according to them there is no other way to reinstate my account.

Was your original account an older one that you had not used in over a year? Had you updated your banking and credit card info on that account? If you hadn't, getting a refund may mean having to go to your payment source to get a refund. If you paid using PayPal look there for a refund notice. In the future if you change a debit/credit card info, phone number, email or shipping address ... etc., you have to update that info on ebay before making a purchase.

I just had my account locked after a purchase and a bid, apparently it appears fraudulent because i was interacting fast on my phone and desktop pc but no clear reason was given. I cant even login to file for my order. I have tried contacting the seller with my new account, but no response yet. I am so frustrated and angered, i cant chat with support, when i call the automated service it tells me that they have placed a temporary hold on my funds until i verify my paypal. Yet i paid with my bank card, have never sold anything. I cant remember linking my paypal. Its very frsutrating. Anyone here help?

You might want to start a new post.
This one is old and they will lock it soon.

The same exact thing happened to me smh. I feel like the "suspicious activity" thing is just an excuse so they can permanently suspend your account without clear reason and keep your funds. I made a bid and a purchase too (using my bank card) and not even up to a day after the purchase they suspended my account and i can't even log in to check on my order. Ebay support also wouldn't help me at all it would tell me to check my email when the only email they sent when they suspended my account is the "Do not reply email". I cant even contact the seller since he doesn't have any other listings and i can't see any order updates on my account since its now nonexistent. I admit i did use an app to verify my phone number on there (Since i currently do not have a phone number) but that gives them absolutely no right to hold onto the money i worked hard for without giving me my item or simply reimbursing me. Let me know if they reached out to you and offered you a solution whether reshipping your item or giving you a refund. I've been stressing about this issue all day. This is very unprofessional of ebay.

In this case, it's possible for you to get a refund. You need to keep all the communication records with the seller to prove that the seller agreed to cancel the order. At the same time, check the payment method you used initially and the relevant regulations. Some payment channels can handle refunds in specific circumstances even if the account is suspended.
You can also contact eBay again to explain the situation, emphasizing that although the account is suspended, the transaction is unfinished and the seller agreed to cancel the order, and request them to assist in handling the refund.
