Item stolen during shipping.

Hello. Just received a message from a buyer that their item was stolen during shipment. The buyer states that the bottom of the box was torn open and all the contents of the box is missing. I know i placed the items in the box. The box was stuck at a post office for over 5 days. Then it started to move. What do i do in this situation? Do i take the loss and refund the buyer in full or what is the right correct way to do this. We are both gonna contact usps in the morning to see what can be done about it. Other than that. I have no idea what to do.
