During the auction, bids were increased step by step by several dollars, and then quickly increased by 100 times. Bid $ 97.00 5 Jul 2021 at 5:20:51 pm PDT jumped to $ 9,594.00 5 Jul 2021 at 5:20:56 pm PDT . And I accidentally pressed the button, but it was too late. Sounds like an ebay scammer. For Buyers who pay taxes and work hard. Ebay want to take a lot of money from them. Experienced crooks did not even come up with this. Or they work for you. Three people fell into your trap, but I was out of luck. I think a lot of people should know about this.

You "Accidentally" pressed the button? What button did you accidentally press? Are you saying that eBay is identifying hard working, tax paying buyers and taking money from them? What "trap" are you referring to?

The step by step increase in the "current bid" amount (or in the bids placed by the losers as displayed in the Bid History) is irrelevant to the final price. The price at any time is the high bid of the SECOND highest bidder plus up to 1 bid increment (unless more is needed to meet a Reserve Price). What the leader/winner bid is irrelevant to determining the price ("current bid" during the auction) except for determining who the highest bidder is (and setting the amount within that "up to 1 bid increment" range if the high bidder has a bid that falls into that range), so the step by step increase reflects what the losers are bidding, not what the winner has bid or needs to bid.
Sounds like a couple or three people typo'd by leaving out the decimal divider. Most likely the leader before you typo'd and then either:
1. You typo'd a higher amount and either confirmed that $9500+ amount (what you intended to bid times 100);
or
2. Someone else typo'd just before you bid and you used a 1-click button that increased in amount just as you went to hit it. I have warned people for years to NEVER use those, both for this reason and because it is bad bidding strategy (bidding a round number based on the "current bid" amount instead of bidding a bit over round numbers at your true maximum you are willing and able to pay for that item as listed).
NEVER BE IN A HURRY TO BID!!! (yelling intended, and I'll repeat it: NEVER BE IN A HURRY TO BID!!!!!!!!). If you are hurrying to place a bid you did something wrong. If you intend to bid your true maximum in the last few seconds (a good tactic) it takes time and preparation to do so effectively so the correct amount gets received by eBay too late for anyone to react to it but before the end of the last second (I recommend using a "snipe service" to do so).

Look at this link:
You think these are three madman buyers who decided to buy a modem for $ 9,797. Which can "Buy It Now" for $ 100. Or you do not understand something. Then think about who benefits.

Looks to me like the top 3 bidders "fat fingered" their bids and made typographical errors, adding a few extra 0's.

You can see what the bids were: eBay Item Bid History
Unfortunately, I cannot ask buyer 1 *** 4 (78) why he bid $ 9,594.00 after bidding $ 98. If it was typo'd by leaving out the decimal divider, the next number would be $ 9,894.00 or $ 9,994.00
I cannot submit a claim for ebay to investigate.
But ebay will open a case for not paying for the item.
This means the buyer is not protected from false or incorrect bids on ebay.
Thank you.
I appreciate your help.

Bidder i***4(78) bid $93 NOT $98 as you indicated and then $9,594.00 which indicates they may have tried to bid $95.94 but made a typo.

If I'm not mistaken, one second has passed and you want to say that he typed four digits, a dot and a bid button, that is, he pressed six keys. Right

It was 11 seconds --
First bid 5:20:45
Second bid 5:20:56
Difference of 11 seconds.

You're right. Well done!
The Beatles forever, Madonna the best!
Pay attention to the buyer 1 *** 2 (15). How did he manage to make four bids at the same time "17:20:55". Three of them are automatic. The automatic bid is multiplied by 100.
It was automatically that rates were bids 96; 98 and 9694.
Ebay did it, he's a great scammer.
Ebay doesn't want to investigate. Ebay takes the seller's side "Status: Seller did not accept cancellation", because ebay is interested in getting as much commission on the sale as possible.
These tenders must be canceled.

1***2 (15) only manually placed 3 bids. Don't pay attention to the "automatic" bid raises.
