7 Out Going USPS Packages not picked up today.....does that mean defects?

I purchased 7 shipping labels  (stamps.com) and prepared 7 packages to be picked up today ( Saturday 3/28) . My mailperson never showed up or claimed he was unable to get to my mailbox,  and now they will not be accepted until 5/31.  How do I prevent getting 7 defects for late validation? Thanks for any help.

Saturdays do not count in your handling time, neither do Sunday or holidays.  So an acceptance scan on Tuesday should meet the scan within handling time requirement.  Tuesday should be the required ship date for items sold on Friday with 1 day handling.
