how often do you list?

How often do most of you list your cards? Do you do a few a day/week or do you create quite a few and list them all at once? I've been adding two a day, but wondering if I should be listing them all at once and then wait till those auctions are over before listing more. What is your experience in this? Thank you for your help.

how often do you list?

southshoreartist, Since I sell outside of Ebay... I try to list at least six pieces at a time... It's difficult to get the work done when other things are going on. I have a few 3D ACEOs in progress and haven't been able to finish them because of other work (which I am grateful for!). What I have learned is not to list anything that ends on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday... Not all the watchers will be around for end of auction.

I'm relatively new to eBay and quite new to aceo's. I have tried to list every week, but I missed last week - just couldn't get anything finished. I listed 7 aceo's last night (Monday.) Six were new and one was a re-list. I'm wondering if that is too many for a slow market...I was really fortunate for my first aceo's listing - I sold three out of four! When I first started on eBay, I had "beginner's luck." I sold my first art listed, (a courtroom drawing,) albeit at a lower price. I was lucky the second week too and sold the second piece to my first Buyer for a higher price. Then I listed two to four pieces a week and "took a bath" on the fees for several weeks...I only sold one piece. More experienced eBayers advised me to do some aceo's to build up my feedback and get my name "known." My DH, who is also an artist, can't understand all the time I pour into my aceo's. (In the illustration/graphic arts world, which is our background, an aceo would be considered a "spot illustration" and would bring at least $200!) I keep telling him "it's advertising!" I do enjoy doing the aceo's, but I don't expect to make any money on them. Except for this week when I listed on Monday night, I've been listing my art on Sunday evenings - lots of people told me that's the optimum time! I'd also be interested in the advice more experienced eBay artists have on this question.

i dont have a set listing rule. I list whenever I am excited about my newest work! I guess the time I usually try to list is evening, so it will end in the evening. This does keep me busy thought because some days I have 4 or 5 things to ship out, or am shipping everyday. Maybe I will try and have things listed on one particular day then I wont end up shipping every day.

I list 1-3 ACEOs a week. I used to always make them end in the evening (around 7-10pm eBay time) but have been letting some end in the afternoon lately. It doesn't make much of a difference.

I gave up trying to look for some sort of pattern in buying habits. I list as soon after I complete an item as possible - perhaps the only time I avoid listing is early in the morning, because that would make it way too early for west-coast people to bid. It seems that some people look at eBay from the office, some look at it from home. I haven't noticed any difference in weekdays either. If anything, I try to spread them as much as possible, so they come up at as many different days and times as I can. /Karen

I do too few ACEOs. When I do one I get so excited about listing it sometimes I have to calm myself down because it's 3am. Often I get by this by listing but with a starting time. I avoid Saturdays. I try to always have up an ACEO which means weekly. But I just do not succeed. :( I just did some ACEO-sized illustrations and know I got many times 'ACEO-prices' for them, so know what that is all like re the funny thing with pricing on ebay. Though, with illustrations you're giving permission to publish, where as ACEOs can 'do' nothing, but remain in someone's collection. I guess that is where the differece lies.

I used to list about 6 times a week but I am now just listing 5 days and that is Monday through Friday lately and taking the weekend off. The weekend is usually very slow for me anyway. I will list anywhere from 3 to 5 a day. I try to keep my inventory up as much as I can. The more inventory the more sales because you have a lot more exposure. I usually start painting at 9 in the morning and at 11 I take a break to watch The Price is Right 🙂 That's when I do my shipping and listing. Usually around 1 or so I get back to painting. Yesterday (Mon.) and today though I didn't do any painting - I got waylaid yesterday helping my daughter get her 2 year old into day care and today I've been kind of out of sorts. All I've done was relist a couple and that's been it. So tomorrow I really need to get back painting. I have about 3 in the works so need to get them finished up and work on couple of new ones. Don't like to get behind. JudyB

By the way I list almost all ACEO's - I've done some 5 x 7's but I actually have been getting more for my art cards than the larger works, so I've just been concentrating on them. My art background and awards have been mainly in miniature work so I just continue doing the aceo's. JudyB

🙂 I seem stuck on ACEOs, too Judy. I keep meaning to do some miniatures. I know I need to do more art, no matter what size. Smaller sizes definitely make it easier. 🙂

I list twice a week sundays and Thursdays, unless eBay is having some interesting promotion. I always start at 9,30 eBay time. If you any suggestion to increase my sales, please do!

I try to list a new one every day....I do mine while watching tv or at the pool...so you can always tell when I'm watching alot of tv or coming soon.... at the pool cuz aceos are easiest to make at those times..if you can post 1 a day...but art cards are very popular and lead to bigger sales...so just dont forget um:) Warm regards, Pam
