art cards wanted .. dot ... com: REPOSTED

Reposted, can't have a live link, plus need to discuss only 'lightly'. govango20 (41 ) 06/16/07 01:12 PM I was googling aceo and found this website artcardswanted dot com I was just wondering if anybody on here has heard of it, or used it, or tried it. And if so, what do you think about the site? I'm asking cuz I'm just curious. I've been thinking about branching out into other arenas to sell my cards beyond ebay. I've tried etsy but I seem to be having a harder time getting traffic to come to my store so that didn't work out too well. I've tried it and etsy, about the same with trying to get traffic there. I've heard of some sales, but mostly slow. I don't like the prints they offer from the site. They look like something out of a cereal packet. It doesn't hurt to put your work up different places to try, if it works for you, great. So far, there is nothing that compares to ebay - if there were, we would probably all go there. ;) ~Jillian

art cards wanted .. dot ... com: REPOSTED

Hi Govango. I listed some cards on artcardswanted just to see what would happen. It has been about 5 weeks and some hits but no sales. I am thinking of removing some of them & bringing them back to ebay. On a side note - I bought a card off of artcardswanted. Never rec'd it so I contacted the answer center. They tried for 10 days to get hold of the seller who never responded. The web site was VERY nice & refunded my money - no questions adked. I had a better time with their customer service than I have EVER had with ebay's. If you decide to give that website a try it can't hurt but ebay is more successful in selling. JMO - of course!;) Sue

I am in the same mind set that ebay is still the best site for us. I know we all have problems from time to time with ebay and things. We have the problem of change from time to time. I have a girlfriend who definitely has a problem with change - for her - as she says - change is fine as long as it doesn't affect me. That's how we all feel from time to time. Then when we get finally used to the change it isn't all that bad. But we don't want it too frequently. I remember someone in one of our discussion groups mentioning about change in their grocery store - don't we all hate that - just when you get used to where everything is bam - you're in a hurry go to the store and everything has changed and you can't find what you're looking for - where it was before has everything completely different - and hey in my one grocery store our Chinese food items are on a shelf above the frozen vegtable items - now how does that fit in?? I guess because they have vegtables in them. Oh yes, like in Wal-Mart the other day - I was looking for coloring books for my granddaughters and was in the section for papers, pencils, craft stuff, etc. but no coloring books so asked wal-mart person if Wal-Mart carried coloring books - oh yes up front by check out counters where there's books. Now why would they put coloring books half a block away from the color crayons???? Go figure. But getting back (or trying to) to my original thought - we still like ebay (the love hate relationship) and there still has been no other site (to my knowledge at least) that has been as good. So here we are, trying to keep up our relationships going, whether married, single or friendship wise (you know, the good, the bad and the ugly) we continue to work on our ebay relationship (definetly the good, the bad and the ugly) 🙂 JudyB

I agree with Judy - eBay is a love/hate thing, but the traffic is here. I've had some cards listed on artcardswanted for a few months now, no bites. When I opened my eBay store, I moved most of the cards back here. -Ann

I see you have just improved on my research 10 fold. I have seen that website. Only watched, kind of slow, I thought. ((( Circle of Hugs )))

I too have had a few cards listed on ACW. Lots of views but no sales. Since it's been about 3 months I'm thinking of pulling them. I do have a store on etsy (hope it's ok to mention the other "e" site). The aceo movement is just getting off the ground there and I think it will take awhile to build momentum. I haven't sold any aceo's, but I did sell one of my large paintings. I've only had the store for a month, though, so we'll see how it goes. I'm trying to get enough inventory together to give a go at an ebay store, too. Then I'll have a better base for comparison. Michelle

What is etsy?

Short version - It's an online community of artists and craftspeople (over 100,000 now!). You can start a store there for free and the listings are 20 cents. It's direct sales - no bidding. The fee when you sell is 3 point something percent. You need to promote a lot there because there are so many artists, but I think it has potential.
