There are some counted cross stitch patterns being listed that are known to be an artist's work who has not given her permission to be used in this manner. Maybe everyone should check to see if yours or someone you know has their paintings being used too.

2 more VEROs have been reported. Along with the 33 previous looks like something should happen "copyrights are not apt to be infringed without conscious duplication of copyrightable subject matter" Breaking another policy and law this seller is consciously selling copies after being given notice from at least 2 artists that she is selling copies of their artwork without their permission. -- Edited by crookedstempipe at 12/05/2010 11:31 AM PST

Does anyone know who did this lovely piece of art? The $tyle is so familiar....but, I just can't put my finger on it -- and, of course, the signature has been cropped.:-( -- ~jana

Because if it's anyone except the copyright holder, eBay does nothing. It takes filling in an affadavit, providing evidence and faxing it to eBay in California.

She has got to have the feeling by now that she is definitely busted. She should be feeling her boat of stolen goods rocking and that she is not that incognito with such a large audience watching. I suppose she can see the fire of torches comming to get her. I am just AMAZED that she is still here with so many VeROs and hasn't started to take down all other unauthorized peices on her own. Lynne, I'm not really sure she is even being "touched" by all of this. Have you checked her completed listings? Did you see how much she raked in on Dec. 4th? -- ~jana

Sadly, many people like this one don't give a crap. Even if you can have them arrested and lead off in handcuffs, they play the victim card. At best, I'll bet the best you can expect is that they might not list one or two items that artists have contacted them about. Right now, we've discovered that one person who steals photographic images and paints over them has taken an image for which she was busted some months ago. She's still calling them her own work, even saying she owns the copyrights to them, makes up fake stories about the items. These people have no conscience, no sense of right or wrong as society defines it.

Lynne, I'm not really sure she is even being "touched" by all of this. Like water off a duck's back. Ebay responds to VeROs by removing the individual item, but not the seller. If she has PowerSeller status, she'll lose that, but probably not the account. There are many fraudsters who have been operating for years with numerous VeROs under their belts, and they're still stealing and listing (the mother-daughter team that Sunshine mentioned comes to mind). Been down this road SO many times with these thieves, and eBay never does a derned thing. People who steal have no conscience, feel no remorse. They don't care that an angry mob is bearing down on them. They just find new sources and carry on. Ebay really isn't concerned about copyright infringement against individuals. They only pull accounts if the infringement is against a major player, i.e. Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Tiffany. (I belong to a special member reporting team, so I know this to be fact, not opinion.) Just saying, don't get your hopes up expecting to see her removed from eBay. She's not going anywhere, except to the bank, smiling all the way. That's not to say that you shouldn't fight back if your work is stolen, but don't expect eBay to do anything more than the minimum required of them. Heck, I wouldn't expect them to even do that. -- Kathy "You know you're putting a good thing out into the universe when you put on glitter." ~ Drew Barrymore

People who steal have no conscience, feel no remorse. They don't care that an angry mob is bearing down on them. In fact, the mother of the above-mentioned mother-daughter duet has been known to play the victim, get nasty and belligerent and outright lie. Scary!

And she (and the mother of the other lovely team) like to play the victim with the "illness card". I don't in any way mean to insult people who really do have life-threatening or chronic illnesses, but missy played the cancer card in at least one of her feedbacks and it's also on her Me page. No conscience whatsoever. -- -Ann ". . . except for drawdog, who is my new best glitter-covered friend." ~ mreas

If it is difficult to get through the lines to filed a VeRO, perhaps looking for listing violations and reporting is another angle. Missy does state mailed CD "or" emailed. NOT BOTH. Often the product seems to be just emailed. Proof of that is when people NEG because they did not receive product and complain, then she says to look in spam folder. NOT ALLOWED, must be backed up by a mailed product EVERY TIME. She also states that she DOES NOT allow refunds on emailed product. If you accept Paypal, it IS refundable. Yes, she appears to be a mouthy brat in her listings. GIANT RED writing slamming eBay about refunding and NOT protecting HER, as well as comments about STUPID people. I'd NEVER buy from a seller who had a listing such as this. Just screams difficult to deal with. Lynne

You could certainly report her for fee avoidance, but again, they would probably pull the listings only, not suspend her account. All she would have to do is change her shipping policy, and she'd be right back in business. To my experience, the ONLY thing that will make a person NARU is a lot SNAD disputes. I don't know the exact number, but if she were to get, say 5-10 SNAD disputes all at once, she would definitely lose her account. Outside of that, they'll just pull the listings and give her the opportunity to correct her mistakes. Ebay is all about making money. She's a high volume seller, and they aren't going to give someone like that the boot. In the case of SNAD claims, eBay/PayPal has to issue refunds, and it starts costing them money. So claims would finish her off. Negs won't, but actual claims where the buyer gets their money back, that definitely will. -- Kathy "You know you're putting a good thing out into the universe when you put on glitter." ~ Drew Barrymore
