When is the best Day and Time to List?

Hi I'm new to ACEO's and this group (thanks for the invite 🙂 I was wondering what Days and Times of day on average have you found the best sales of ACEO's? Is it the weekend, or is there any difference? Lately I've been posting as I finish, which doesn't seem to work. Have a look at my cards and tell me what you think. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZc0ryartist Thanks Cory

Unfortunately I have to agree with Mick. Right now it doesn't look like any time has it over another. The chances of someone looking and even bidding seem to have gone by the wayside. -- Gail ~

Re: When is the best Day and Time to List?

The best time.... When eBay offers FREE listings!!!!! Like now! Jan.25 to Feb.8!!!! Stragling items of like kind by even 15 or 29 minutes works better than all timing off at same time. I like things ending on Sunday, more people sitting around at computers, during the weekday things ending in the evening, but not too late. It is true though, when you think you got it all figured out, non of it will make sense. I wasn't an eBayer back when I hear FABLED stories of what it used to be like in ACEO good times. I came in 2 yrs. ago on a down swing, then saw sales get worse. It still does have it's active moments, but not near what it was even 2 yrs. ago. I do believe that if people can hang in there, it will recover, eventually. I strongly suggest an alternative source of income. Right now, if it isn't done for the experience with sales being extra bonus, for most, it will be dissapointing. Gotta be here because you love art! The things you can learn! And keeping company with people that do what you do!:) Lynne

ROFL at Mick's comment. Good one! Fridays have always been super slow for me. Same with mid-day. Early afternoons and evenings (especially evenings) seem to work best. Haven't tried a dart board yet. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do till traffic picks up. 🙂

Re: When is the best Day and Time to List?

April 2005 I listed my first ACEO. I pressed 'list'. I turned, took a sip of my drink, decided to see how it looked in the listings of newly listed. I about fell off my chair. It was already sold (had a bid). I'd listed tons of things on eBay prior, but this was the quickest. I was hooked, needless to say. At one stage ACEOs were where 60-80% of those listed, sold. There were about 3 or 4,000 listings - not including those in shops. There were many selling in the $100s, top selling was $500 early 2006 for a cat in oil - that remained until the mermaid/crow stuff, later. Anything with mermaid or crow sold. John had a bluebird, I labeled it 'blue crow' and it sold immediately! Silly stuff. I think the top ACEO sold for around $800. I definitely saw several $700+ Mermaids were being listed BIN for $200 and selling like hotcakes. Some of them were very un-mermaid - looked like lingerie models. And I guess some of them were modeled after just that. *sigh* I have sold something like 400 or 500 ACEOs I've only done about 12 the past 4 years. They don't sell immediately like before, and often I have to try other sites and/or venues for them to sell. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!

I'll bet it was that painting of the cat licking the water out of the faucet, aye Jillian? That was incredible! Yes, and the mermaids, geesh! Remember the person who purchased soooo many of them too? That person was quite the 'buyer'!!! Wonder if he/she still purchases here... -- My Listings!

WOW, Jillian! Glad I WASN'T there then. I'd be pron to long crying spells and fits of depression now, if I had know those kind of sales! A song: Those were the days, Oh, Yes, those were the days! Wonder IF we will ever see that again. I mean, while I'm still alive. See me talking to my future Granchild, me an old Grandma, wobbling in my rocking chair, "Back in the day, during the great ACEO depression, I lived off crackers, peanut butter and stale water. I made my own paint brushes out of animal hair and sticks. I cut up cereal boxes for art cards, and had to tie them to pigeons to get them delivered...." LOL Lynne

Re: When is the best Day and Time to List?

this is a good question, but, from the answers given, it seems there is no "right" answer. i list as i finish. i've had buyers from australia, france, the u.k., canada and all over the u.s., so i don't think any given time makes much difference unless you're specifically targeting an area or certain buyers who are on ebay at specific times. i just wish i could figure out just what sells...the market is capricious with me 😉 o well, i guess it'll be awhile before my husband can retire and live off my earnings lol.

Re: When is the best Day and Time to List?

I can't say which day/time is better, but closing on Monday is definitely a no-no - no one remembers to bid. Whatever day you choose to close, BE CONSISTENT - the name of the game is building a following and getting them in the habit of looking to see what you've posted. They may not look on the day you post, but they will look the day you close. At least that's been my experience. Vena

Re: When is the best Day and Time to List?

If I list in evening hours I'm much more likely to get buyers from overseas. I agree with Vena. If you can list a minimum of 2 times a day, different times, even better. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!

Re: When is the best Day and Time to List?

I am starting to realize that there is no best time since there are so many different time zones, life styles and schedules. Right now is morning is some places and night in others... Also a listing can last up to 7-10 days, so if someone really wants it, they can bid earlier. As for days, I think there's some truth about Saturdays, I notice that too. Maybe people want to go out and enjoy the weekend... -Olga -- OZ -- Edited by 0ziskin at 05/30/2011 8:52 PM PDT

Re: When is the best Day and Time to List?

there is no best time really i find that its just easer to sell at the first of the month. but i also draw attention to my sight by selling some that dont sell at discounts this brings ppl to your page. also it helps if you have a few there, and discount shipping if they buy more. hope this helps
