I have just finished my first commisioned portrait. I am just dreading them saying.. "What? This looks nothing like her! You ruined it!!!" Everyone here who has seen it says it looks fine and just like the woman in the photo, but the problem with photos is, they are so soulless, you know nothing of the personality of this person... I noticed in the picture that the woman in question had a lazy eye and a mole on her cheek... Now do I correct those minor imperfections or are they so much a part of her that no-one will recognise her without them. (I corrected the eye but lightly kept the mole)
I don't do peole, I do pet portraits! But there was no telling this man, No I do pets... So then you could draw my wife... No, I do animals... pets. But you're so good at animals, I'm sure you could do my wife (er what are you saying about your wife?) In the end I relented, but I'm still not sure he'll like it....
Other than that.. I find cars, machines and the wall behind the radiator hard to paint.
And I agree with the bait behind the toilet having recently redecorated my bathroom, but the wall behind the radiator was much harder.
