Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

Latest from maeve Jul 13, 2007 1:52 PM Hi everyone, thanks for the constructive criticisms, it helps me a great deal. I will try to answer your questions. Maeve - I posted this elsewhere, but am repeating myself to make sure you see my suggestions. 1. Can the address book have folders so that we can organize the addresses. Its nice to be able to organize saved mail, but for those in more than one group, being able to separate them would be extremely helpful. 2. Can the addresses in the book be alphabetized, rather than being in the order in which they were inserted? We are working hard to resolve the member list issues. Its a top priority and you may see a temporary fix in place before we roll out the final adjustments. 3. We really do need a bigger font - bet you have't heard that one yet The font size is also a high priority fix. We don't want people to have to work too hard to see the text in groups so please stay tuned ------- We are trying to fix the bugs as quickly as possible and it appears to me that things are working a bit better this morning. I am glad to hear that people are exploring the tools and seeing what kinds of things you can do with the new groups. This was a particularly tough launch and you all have my apologies for the disruption it caused. I don't like signatures OR avatars! Useless information that just take up space!

J...I followed the advice from art.st (I think it was???) in another group on the font size. At the top of the page is the word 'tools'. Click on that and on Internet Options in the drop down menu. then click on Accessiblity at the bottom right. Click Ignore font sizes specified on webpages. Hit okay twice. This changed my fonts to a readable size and so far so good. If eBay does something to change the font size again, then I'll have to revert. I was nearly going blind with that other stupid font!

Deb, There are several ways around the font issue - I've listed it under 'help' but I can't use that way, as it changes the whole set up of my computer. And don't like using the mouse wheel/control key way, either. But my eyes aren't too bad. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider SUGGESTION: Give group leaders the OPTION to show/hide avatars/signatures in their groups - and leave no gap/space so scrolling is lessened. Re: Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

I tried what debcoart said -- it made my font SMALLER. Also, I can't get the control key and mouse wheel to work on this new format like it did in the old group. 😞 Jana --

Re: Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

I can't see anyone else's comments when I came back in. Frustrating. I put this on the other thread, Jillian just want to be sure you know I am here on and off: I have been reading on and off, can't read for long because font is so small it triggered a migraine (that is why I am on medical disability, because of chronic migraine) I think I understand that I can change my own font (I just don't know yet how to do it), but if everyone else is on small font, NOTHING is worth getting a migraine for and be on morphine and other meds for two days after! And feel like my eyes are being dug out by a screwdriver (will that word get me censored even tho it is a tool?) Jillian I truly hope you don't give up, but please relax more as things get figured out some. The changes are lousy and I prefer the old way but ebay is going to have their own way no matter what we say. Please hand in there. HeatherM

Yes, there are many getting headaches etc. This has been reported and they ARE working on it. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider SUGGESTION: Give group leaders the OPTION to show/hide avatars/signatures in their groups - and leave no gap/space so scrolling is lessened. Re: Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

Jillian, something that bothers me -- it bothered me in the "old" format AND now in the "new" format. When I read all the way to the bottom of the page (when there are a lot of posts), I have to scroll way BACK up to hit the "discussions" link. Do you think that they could make a "discussions" link at the bottom of the page?? It sure would save time and my poor finger!! I figured that you and the BIG BOSSES are on a first name basis by now!!;-):^O Jana --

Re: Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

There is another way to change font size without using the mouse. Click Ctrl+ (control and +/= buttons at the same time) to increase font size, and Ctrl- (control and _/- buttons) to decrease it. It helps me read at least! -- -:¦:-:-Isa-:-:¦:-

Re: Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

Oh, Jana, it's a great idea to repeat the links at the left at the bottom of the page. Or perhaps like in some web sites, make them "float" with page scrolling. I have been using the "back" button to avoid scrolling back up every time. -- -:¦:-:-Isa-:-:¦:-

Re: Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

They are working on a lot of things. They FINALLY got back the leaders and moderators for all groups. I don't know if you know or not, but that was all messed up. I even became a moderator of a group I lead. Today they have fixed this. Their next priority is our 'members' list. It is not functional for groups/leaders. They are also working on the 'fixes' mentioned. I am watching all and trying to keep up to date. So I can pass it on to you and petition for changes, etc. I know about the format of discussions and too much scrolling/clicking - that is my main complaint, besides too much useless information - but that is kinda relating to the scrolling/clicking as if there wasn't TOO much info, then we wouldn't have to click/scroll so much. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider SUGGESTION: Give group leaders the OPTION to show/hide avatars/signatures in their groups - and leave no gap/space so scrolling is lessened. Re: Latest news on 'groups' updates/fixes ...

Click the pre button on replies and type between them to make your text size uniform. Makes it easier to read for me anyway. As for getting back to the discussions list after reading a thread, what I've always done (and did this even on the old group format) is hit my browser's "back" button (on firefox it's the big left facing arrow at the left edge of the toolbar at the top of the page).
