Do I need a COA?

I notice a lot of people selling their ACEOs with COAs. I only sell originals so do I really need them? Do you think they would help my work sell better? It seems to me that they would only make sense with limited editions or prints. Thanks! Jen

Drum Roll please.... The artist was Jeanne - Jeanze*Art. All round WELL DONE! Another note about this ... you know how you will put a Birthday or Hello card on the mantle, counter or wherever? This is similar....whereas the other ACEO's I have collected are being arranged for my ACEO 'wall', Jeanne's is still on the counter. (And I get a bright smile every time I see that fellow :-) The 'foamy' stuff is, I think, fun foam - but it's very thin so I'm not sure. It's a cheery yellow and highlights the ACEO perfectly. While I'm yakking on and on ... I'll quick tell you about another card I was lucky to win. The card itself was stunning but the artist also included a number of gift tags. They were smaller than ACEO's but had these gorgeous fibers as embellishment. It felt like Christmas when I opened her parcel! Ya know what, I HAD to share! So, I shared them with friends and now they will know about this artist and that she also does ATC's too. Nice way to introduce people to the creativity in this art form. This artist also attached a distressed book mark - again with wonderful fibers - to her Paypal statement. On this bookmark was all her contact info. The fibers really made the otherwise dull Paypal statement liven up. I adore every ACEO I have had the good fortune of winning, but these two had presentations that went far beyond what I ever expected....so far....there are still so many ACEO artists' work I want to collect so who knows what else is out there!!! 🙂 The creativity blows my mind!!! Totally wonderful to hear Mary - and the reason for us all to be so enchanted with the whole ACEO art phenomenon. :) Thanks for sharing. Bravo for Jeanne, too!

Do I need a COA?

At our Easter BBQ I was asked by my partners nephew if I could do a painting for him of his cat...gosh A4 size not a little aceo! Anyway, he also asked if he could come over and learn about painting. He came the next day and we painted together. I created a Lightning Horse abstract for him ....then showed him how we do a COA which I created, printed and signed for him. He was really thrilled and so was his mother. It was an art squared 3.75 x 3.75 inches canvas. So the moral of this story is that everyone can enjoy art and appreciate a Certificate! I made my own COA by altering one of my drawings in 'Microsoft Picture-It' programme, with text on the front saying 'Cerificate of Authenticity' and text saying it was an original by me, and I retain copyright.. then print them out at a bit bigger than business card size. When I need one, I just write on the back the name of the piece and my contact details etc.. I just started this, and intend to continue as I think it adds that feeling of individuality to my art.. 🙂 Jen

WOW! Mary (hastychatter), I'm so glad I had time this evening to visit this group and catch up on posts. I am really pleased that you like my presentation. I take a lot of pride in it, so it's good to know it makes a favorable impression. Thank you so much! Jeanne P.S. The foam I use is a type of fun foam, and it's SELF STICK! When I saw the huge package (multiple colors) on sale at the craft store, it hit me immediately how perfect it would be for shipping ACEO's -- not only for protection, but also to complement the art. The sheets are 8" x 10", and I just cut them to size.

Do I need a COA?

Wow, I didn't even think of giving out a COA on my artwork. I think that's a great idea and will probably try it on my next sale. I've really learned a lot by reading this thread.

Do I need a COA?

My sales picked up big time after I started offering COAs a month ago. I love the EBSQ coa's. Its worth the $7.00 a month because once you have entered your info into the art case creating auction templates and COAs is easy. In fact the COAs only take a minute or so to generate and print. Your customers can "lock" their COAs on the web site too. http:// ebsqart dot com

Last year I ran some contests here in the ACEO groups called Name That Artist. Some of you may remember them...I posted the images and had people guess who the artists were. I did this for the ACEOs that I had bought which arrived with nothing more than a scribble on the back. After a while you forget who they are, you know? I think I found everyone but one person. It was a fun game. I used to laugh when Jim Kosmala said in his listings "If you don't believe it's mine, don't buy it" or something like that. But then he always had the most hysterically funny descriptions ever anyhow.

Do I need a COA?

I've noticed that on alot of the Art Auctions, they include a COA. I really didn't think of adding that to the ACEO's, although the larger works, might be a nice touch. BUT, now that I think of it, maybe all my work would benefit from the COA. I always describe the work on the back of the ACEO's, sign, date, and number them. On stretched canvas, I do the same on the back framing. I think I'll design a COA, and include it with everything from here out. If nothing else, it would look nice in the description, and hopefully entice collectors to bid...Who knows.

I put the details on the back of all of my art. I also include a gift card that I have printed up and put in an envelope. The gift card has a photo of the art, framed and matted, on the front of it. Inside is the COA info and on the other inside is a note from me, then the back page I have a sentence that says 'greatefully created for a supporter of living artists' has my name, email addy, eBay store. I make this up in publisher. Then I just save the template and it takes about 1 min. to make the needed changes. susie
