What size clear bag for ACEO's

HI, I know this may sound like a stupid question..lol.. but when I went to their site I couldn't tell if the self sealing flap was on the short side or long side and how long the flap was. I know ACEO are 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches. So I called the company and explained the size of the art I wanted to put in it and that I wanted the flap to be on the shorter side. I got them today, and the flap is on the longer side and the envelope is so big that I have to fold the flap twice and use scotch tape as well as the self sealing edge and the shipping cost more than the envelopes..lol I can't afford to ship them back. I need to order more, just 100 is all I can get now, but I don't want to make another mistake. I am hoping someone can give me the size, or maybe some one sells them in smaller amounts with cheaper shipping. Thank you, susie

Oh my gosh. :( Did you phone them up and tell them you were wrongly advised? Because you were. I'm fairly sure the flap would be on the short side. How many of these do you need? Why do you want them with a flap? Do you want a template for making an envelope (you can get clear 'paper' to make them) - run a seach on discussions. I am sorry I couldn't help you with size I felt SURE they could have told you right.

Thank you Jillian. I left a message to call me this morning but no return call. I like the idea of the self sealing flap that goes over the open end after you put them in. It seems like more protection and to me looks more professional. They are the same kind of acetate envelopes I put my larger art in, with back for that of course, only the smaller ones for ACEO are not in any of my art catelogues. The flap is better on the shorter size of any acetate envelope. But the problem with this one is the flap was on the long side and the envelope was also too long on the short side, so once I seal the flap, I still have to make another fold and put scotch tape to hold that one down... I never imagined this could be such a problem..lol.. its like the acetate envelope twilight zone..lol Thank you for the info Jillian, but I have RA and so I try to save my hands for painting and drawing. susie

Yes, I know the kind you mean. I use them for 4x6" items. They definitely didn't listen to you. I wish I had more time to help. I just don't. Normally I'd go look. Someone else might have the answer.

Just a word of caution on the self sealing flap - if the sticky stuff is on the flap, it can catch on the artwork as it's being taken out of the bag - I've had this happen with note cards!! I prefer to use their bags with the sticky stuff on the bag - they call that their "protective closure" bag and they use "PC" as part of the item number. I ordered bags that fit ACEOs perfectly, but they don't have a flap, they're just open on one end. Those are #B23CNF. I did order some 3.5 x 2.5 with flap, but they're EXACTLY that size, so the ACEOs don't fit. Not sure what the next size up might be. But the ones that DIDN'T work were item # B2PC. -Ann

Hi Susie, I know I am no expert, since I am still a raw beginner at ACEO's but what I did was go to a comic book/baseball cards collectibles store and bought the baseball card envelope clear covers.... they fit perfectly, are archivally okay, and cost about $2 for 100 of them! That's what I use for the ACEO's. I hope I understood your question correctly. They don't have a flap, so there's nothing 'gummy' to get in the way either. I like them. I know the local big wig scrapbooking store buys them at the same place, then bundles them up in 10 pieces or maybe a dozen and sells them for $3.98 for ACEO covers! Way cheaper to go to the comic book store yourself! And baseball collectors use them for their collectible cards all of the time, so they should be okay. Toodles, Elona

To get soft and hard plastic sleeves for my aceo's, I did an eBay search for baseball trading cards and found a supplier for the sleeves. Very reasonably priced too.

Yes, I got the sleeves for trading cards and they do not have a flap. I prefer that. The art stays in the sleeve and there is nothing doubled over to collect dirt. PJ

What size clear bag for ACEO's

wow.. thank you everyone. Somehow I missed all the wonderful ideas. I looked this thread up to say that the company called me this afternoon and they are shipping out the right size, no charge.. isn't that great! Well, now I am wondering about the flap, I sort of felt it would help protect the ACEO, now it looks like it might be an problem. shoot. Is there anyone who things the flap is a good idea? lol now I will have 200 of them =) susie
