Beware the Picture Pack Option

Now through September 18, eBay is offering a picture pack option for 25 cents (add up to 12 photos for that price). When you go to upload your image(s), if you don't want the picture pack, be sure to un-check the box near the bottom of the upload window. I didn't see it and I only upload the one photo that's always free, so when I ended up at the end with an extra 25 cent charge for the Picture Pack, I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Live Help was very helpful and directed me to that check box. It's a fine deal if you really have 12 photos to upload, but it's pointless if you only upload the one free image. A bit sneaky that the box is checked by default! -- -Ann "Now, go away, or I shall taunt you a second time."

Beware the Picture Pack Option

It charged me even though the box was not checked!! I tried twice...leaving it completely blank, but there again when I previewed the listing...the box was magically checked and there sat the .25 fee...Live Help credited the fee back to me once I listed it...lots of folks out there not catching that one, thanks for posting this :) ~Elizabeth

Beware the Picture Pack Option

I just listed some paintings (finally) and there was a box just under where you upload your pictures that can be checked that had to do with a free supersize picture and 12 pictures, but as it stated it was free. No extra money showed up at the end just before you hit submit listing and I went into my account to double check to make sure there were no extra fees and none showed up. I listed 8 so the 1st 5 were the freebie ones etc. Is that the box you were talking about? JudyB

Beware the Picture Pack Option

Yep, that's the box, Judy. I'm somewhat confused about how many photos are free and what exactly the "picture pack" offers that you don't normally get. But I do know that when I tried to list my item, the box was checked and I almost got dinged an extra 25 cents. 25 cents isn't much, but it'll eat into my slim profit margin for a $4.50 magnet. And besides, it's the principle of the thing! Bottom line is: be aware! You never know what eBay will come up with. Trojan horses are everywhere! ;) -- -Ann "Now, go away, or I shall taunt you a second time." -- Edited by drawdog5 at 08/19/2009 3:53 PM PDT

No further issues when I listed my card just now...the box is marked "free" now, instead of having the .25 cent fee next to it... ~Elizabeth

I tried to list a new item last night & I ran into the problem. When you go to upload your pictures it says first pic free, each additional is 15 cents. I only wanted 2 pictures & it kept trying to charge me 50 cents. I thought Hunh? So I didn't list it here. Took it to the ranch! Sue

Beware the Picture Pack Option

eBay's answer: "In reading the letter on your site, I am a little confused because it sounds as if the author is listing in the art category. If that is the case, yes, PicturePack is defaulted to on because pictures are free in that category. In fact, any category where pictures are free will have PicturePack defaulted on. That said, PicturePack should not be defaulted on in other categories, even with a promotion running. The exception to this would be for a seller who listed an item with Picture Pack previously and is relisting the item and edits the category information to a non-free category...in those cases Picture Pack (and other feature selections they inherited from the original listing) would stay on - by default - unless the user turns them off." -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!
