New return policy? Forced 30 day returns?

So I just got an email from eBay that stated I need to update 3 of my listings because they don't meet minimum return policy requirements?  I'm trying to figure out why, and the only thing I can see is that if I go to edit the listing, it only gives me options now for 30 day returns on those listings.   So, I have no choice now but to take 30 day returns?  Is this because I am a TRS?  Because if it is, I'll gladly give up what little discount I get, no more than I sell here these days, to be able to still do 14 day returns.  14 days is more than enough on stuff I sell like guitar parts that have to be fitted (modified) slightly to fit most guitars.  This renders them NOT resellable if I get a return.  But if I change to "no returns" then I open myself up to possibly getting SNAD claims from scammers....

See why I said to read the Seller updates.
I think it only collectibles and arts that can still have the 14 day option. TSR or not. Double check the spring and summer updates. Also check the announcements.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

Re: New return policy? Forced 30 day returns?

Im confused......I offer the 30 day return and checked why I'm not compliant.  It says that I now have to offer 30 day FREE return.  When you sell low like I do....9.99 free ship, there is just a small profit.  I would be in the red if I had to reimburse someone's shipping free if they changed their mind.  Did I read this wrong?  I've worked with Ebay every time they "raise" the bar on me, but I won't be able to offer FREE returns.  So after many years, I'll have to give up my TRS badge and the measely 10% discount.  Any thoughts?

Re: New return policy? Forced 30 day returns?

I think it depends somewhat on what categories you sell in, with regard to what they make you do with returns, but yeah, they are pushing for all of us to move to free returns. This is part of the reasons I have been migrating a lot of my listings off here and onto a site called Reverb. I sell music instrument parts and supplies, and Reverb is basically a site for ONLY music instruments and related and now they have an LP category for records, too. It's perfect for me, and honestly, my sales there have been better than they have here. Like, I get 2 or 3 times more traffic on all my listings. I can't figure out if that's because there are more musicians who shop on Reverb now than there are eBay, or if it is because there is less competition on Reverb so I by default get more views because my stuff is seen more. Regardless, I have now sold 5 items on Reverb in the last 24 hours and NOT ONE here. And, to top it off, Reverb's fees are less than half of Ebay fees. Win-win for me. I keep hoping for eBay to make a comeback to what it used to be in the early days. Yes it was a pain paying for EVERY listing, but probably only one out of every hundred listings failed to sell, at least for me. It was a LOT better than it is now, and it made it worth it to have to pay for every listing, as you really felt like you were getting your money's worth. And it was a LOT more fair to the seller in those days.
