TRS discount going from 20% to 10% on May 1st

I WON'T DO IT

For 10% I will no longer jump thru the hoops

I'm going back to 3 day handling and paid shipping

I'm also raising my prices

I DON'T NEED THIS ANYMORE

I agree. Just what exactly is going to help TRS? You will charge us more and give us more restrictions? I didn't ask for that!

I was very surprised to read everything they're doing to discourage us from selling here.  😞

I don't make money as it is ... but I've enjoyed the TRS badge ... although I think now I will just do as you, and go back to 3 day handling.    No more running out to the P.O. or to catch the postman before he leaves my area.

Oh well ...

Re: TRS discount going from 20% to 10% on May 1st

If you're paying ebay $1K/month in final value fees, you have around $11k in sales per month.

So that extra $100 you do not get rebated amounts to 0.91% of sales.

Yes, a 50% drop in rebate on fvf sounds like a lot, but its 50% of 20% of 9% (less than 1% of sales).

I see many stores that run sales of 5% and up all the time.

Oh I get that part of it, I suggested for this Spring update that Store owners should be able to "select" which ads go up on their store front AND if a visitor clicked on that ad link while at the Seller's store the Seller would get something for it ... no different than commericials on TV during prime time viewing ... ads responded to result in sales even though folks are tuned in to watch their favorite show.

The whole pay to play with Promoted Listings is geared toward large eStores or people Selling New items in multiple lots ... not for the average vintage item seller.  I would love to consider listing some individual things via Promoted Listings to play around with sales strategies but that feature does not permit it ...

I guess we're allowed to say things on this board that we're not allowed to say on the Selling board? Such as .... listing something .... somewhere over the rainbow?

Thank you for your response. Bob Kupbens addressed this in a blog. You can read it here.

Um, only if you haven't gotten on the wrong side of the drug used to treat bipolar disorder.  If you have, you will pay. Trust me on this one.  😉

Great! 45.8% down over the same time last year with 2x+ items listed. Are you impressed? I'm certainly not!

I quit chasing that carrot a long time ago.  If I hadn't quit then I sure as heck would quit chasing it now.  Just not worth the headache.  Back in the day 20% was a nice discount, but since my sales are about 1/4 of what they used to be about 4 years ago, it just doesn't cut it.  And at 10% it is a joke.  The profits around here get less and less.  I wonder what kind of deal the Chinese get from ebay?  Too bad it is not a level playing field.

So you're going to punish your buyers for something out of their control?

I think eBay is punishing his buyers.

I am actually surprised that very few people have realized what a money grab Promoted listings will be.

And even more surprised that ebay did not go back to the featured listings.  There were times when I would happily pay the extra $19.95 to list a vintage chambray 50s work shirt in featured and know that I would make an extra $200 in bids.  Now, I know that ebay can not guarantee me one bidder let alone 20 so I am not wasting the money, and I spend a lot more time at Betsy's.

Re: TRS discount going from 20% to 10% on May 1st

@usmc*usnmom ebay is a business. what i mention way earlier on this would have been the smartest for them: way increasing profit, while the one trs plus left make just a percentage point or 2 more but felt good, and everyone else has a target to strive to.

this whole long 200 reply thread might be different if they had.
