It's pretty comical that people are complaining about this internet tax
stuff-all they are really complaining about is that they've been
breaking the law for years and now they have to follow the law (or at
least it's harder to break the law).
Technically in New York State you are supposed to register with the
state and collect sales tax on anything over $600 per year, garage sales
and flea markets included.
Apparently eBay was caught off-guard by NYS as well. It looks like the
requirement that marketplace providers collect NYS sales tax was just
passed very recently (one post I read said like on 5/29 they slipped it
into a bill that was passed) and 6/1 ...
Highly recommend the Rollo it is more open source and works with all

In those situations it basically becomes the responsibility of the
buyer/end user/consumer to contact their state and get a tax refund for
any incorrectly charged sales/use tax.
