What happened to being able check a gift card balance before, or
without, making a purchase? Suddenly, I can't find a way to check the
balance on an eBay gift card to make sure there is enough money on it to

Still a poor method for a simple thing like checking your balance before
deciding to purchase. You have to get an item in your cart to check the
balance, then try to remove it if the card balance doesn't cover the
price, or cover enough of the price.
It has already been added to my account and part of it has been spent. I
can't find out the balance until I commit to buy something. By then, its
too late. I need to know how much is left on. my account BEFORE I commit
to buy.
