I just get blank boxes with little magnifying glasses with plus signs in
them. I can't do a good visual search that way. No way I'm clicking each
photo one by one. Is this an ebay thing or is it my settings? Anyone
else getting this?

Something weird is afoot. I was trying to get a screenshot of a search
page when I noticed a bazillion lines of code at the bottom of the page.
