I barely trust PayPal with my bank account information. Trusting ebay
with my bank account, social security number, and miles of other
personal information is asking for trouble. Ebay has struggled to stay

Nothing I've read suggests this is PayPal's doing. Why would they want
to make less money? Ebay is the clear beneficiary here. If PayPal did
hypothetically decide to abandon Ebay, then it is still Ebay that made
some terrible error in negotiation.
