Why are we subjected on ebay on all of our listings saying we are from the UNITED STATES when we are from America? United States consists of district of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the military personnel. Please do some research and change all of my listings to AMERICA.

Technically, you're in the United States of America. US and America are simply accepted, shortened names.

Americas refers to the whole continents of North & South America and can also be called America.

Latin America, Middle America, Central America, etc.

Because when referencing the United States of America, both "United States" and "America" are commonly used and virtually interchangeable.

I believe it's based on the nomenclature used by the Post Office. ........i.e. Whatever town, whatever state, United States.

you didn't do well in geography did you?

As was pointed out, the Americas refer to all the countries in North & South America.

The United States of America refers to the 50 states and includes DC & our overseas territories.

We are not "American" as a nationality, we are United States of America citizens.

We are American in that we and every other country in North and South America belong to the Americas. They are also Americans
