Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Am I the only one that is concerned with ebay's recent increase in final value fees?  Ebay is making it hard to make even a small profit off items sold!

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I sold a camera for $290. Paypal charge me 5% and ebay charged 10%. Now, I posted an iphone for sale, and the fee would  be $57. Seriously?

Paypal has become like the banks in the third world that ripe customers off so has ebay became too.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I believe Paypal split from eBay years ago.

I just wanted to add that it is SHAMEFULL how eBay hides their fees!! How FREAKING shameful! There is only one reason to be obscure about the fees and its to fool you into thinking your going to make money. eBay doesn't care if you do or don't make money! Now AMAZON on the other hand SHOWS YOU THE FEE UP FRONT! They actually care about you too, just call and talk to customer service.

I have been selling on eBay for over 10 years and somehow I no longer qualify for discounts on final value fees. IT would take too much to get the discount back only selling a few items a month - its just not worth it.

LISTEN - JUST START USING OTHER SERVICES. YOU ONLY NEED PAYPAL TO BE PROTECTED FROM SCAMMERS! PAYPAL COVERS ALL THE SAME THINGS EBAY DOES! LOOK AT SWAPPA.COM, THEY ALLOW YOU TO SELL PHONES AND LAPTOPS FOR SIMPLY A SMALL FEE USING PAYPAL! THERE ARE 10 OR MORE SITES YOU CAN SELL ON TODAY WITHOUT GETTING RAPED BY EBAY AND THEIR SHADY FEE PRACTICES....

JUST TO NAME A FEW: LETGO - AMAZON - ETSY - CRAIGSLIST - BONNANZA - JUST DUMP EBAY AND LEAVE IT TO THE 10CENT CHINA SELLERS!

I suppose if a seller is distributing stolen merchandise they would make money. For those of us who are honest, eBay makes money. Kinda reminds me of feudalism.

True, I find I am not making any money just paying for fees every time I turn around.

I agree. It was cheaper to sell on Amazon and it was eBay.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I'm a casual seller of Music equipment and instruments and every time I get this 20% hit on the back end it's like a stab in the back. I'm an IT director and with their automated system it should be getting cheaper for them to service users and manage their database/Web front end. Instead they are getting greedy and jacking up the prices for exponentially larger profits and no other reason. There are many more avenues to sell online and and viable competition. I would advise us all to look elsewhere. Ebay thinks they re too big to fail and we should all pull out to prove them wrong!

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Oh yes.  The fees are way too high.

By the time I add up my time, shipping costs, etc., this is no great deal.  I see where I got hit for serious charges and yet I can't figure out how.   I do think I'm getting charged a sale fee on an item that was CANCELED.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

No, I’m done selling on eBay, Facebook may be a smaller market but they don’t gouge you, eBay is becoming so concerned  with their own profits it’s harder for their sellers to make any, items won’t sell because they’re priced to high and sellers can’t lower them because of fees, lose lose eBay,  disappointed seller

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

I only today learned they are even taking 10% of the shipping as well.  That's grossly unfair.   How do they figure it's right to take part of that?  They must be trying to please share holders.  It's excessive.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

eBay favors high volume, or store sellers. The person who sells a few items, occasionally, is "taxed" (yes, I do not use this lightly) greatly by eBay. In order to counteract high eBay taxes, sellers must have very high shipping fees (as USPS fees are high as well). It seems eBay would like to expunge its system of low volume sellers, and only offer its services to high volume sellers. At one time, eBay was the place for reasonably priced items, and great bargains. Now, it is highly taxed, very few auctions, and curt sellers.

Re: Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Ebay used to be great, but have lost their way. People shop eBay for price and availability of items they can't find locally. With all the fees, we're literally having to give items away or they don't sell. I'm tired of all the work to make eBay all the money. After I finish up a few more auctions, I'm through with eBay after over 20 years. I just don't need to work for them, so I'm done.
