Ebay's Final Value Fees Too High!

Am I the only one that is concerned with ebay's recent increase in final value fees?  Ebay is making it hard to make even a small profit off items sold!

I used eBay back heavily back in 2002-2003. I remeber the processing fees and such were reasonable back then, coincidently it's the time when the company was doing very well.

I just sold an item for $192 final sale + $7.20 shipping. In the end, ebay took $19 and PayPal took another $9. The shipping estimates were off, and the fee was $13.60. If I had known how the fees broke down, I would not have sold on eBay. I'm dissapointed and I consider this a learning experience.

Thank you surfmanhero for your response.  We are still enjoying our eBay selling experience.  We do not feel their fees are too high and for us it's working out.  They are very professional to work with and we are having a pleasurable experience.

Ebay charges  too much for fee. as far as I  know alibaba taobao does not charge seller and buy anything but very small acount of fee to the bank and making lots of money because everyone buy and  sells  on the site.

Holy mother of god! Just sold my first item. Wanted $600 for it but have never sold and have a selling limit of $500. Well... That sucks, but I need the money. So I sell it for $500 plus $46.85 shipping. I was aware of the final fee but assumed it shouldn't be that much. Boy what a mistake that was!  $54.85 final fee. Why wouldn't ebay just flat out tell me it's 10%?!?! They cover it up by making it look like its some complicated multi-factor algorithim used to compute the fee, when they could just come right out and say it's 10% when your going through the listing process. If there was ever ANY indication it was even NEAR 10% at the time of listing I would have reconsidered. Of course angry and confused it didn't take me long to find this thread. I understand the need for fees but as a new seller I was blindsided by this, and feel that is a shady and underhanded way of doing business!!!

Yessssss!!!!! It's way **bleep******* high!!!! I didn't find out until they slap me with a final invoice fee of $422 at the end of the month!!!!! That is **bleep** deceptive!! With no clear warning of the 10% final value fee before you list your items!!!!!!!!!!

Their fees are way out of line and it looks like I'm going back to Craig's list for selling items.

I've been on eBay since 1999 and most likely won't be SELLING here again - unless I see something I want to BUY. There are so many other ways to sell now (Face600k, Sh0pify, W00C0mm3rc3). Charging me $9 for selling my Iphone 5 for $90 was the last time. Screw you eBay.

No more Ebay selling for me. Sold less than $200 stuff this past month and my fees are over $30. You get a shipping discount when you ship an item but have to pay a shippinf fee when they bill you at the end of the month...**bleep** is that?

Hi, I agree,  I just sold something for $70.00 and I was charged $.50 for fee for shipping (even though I lost money on the shipping charges--$3.65) and was charged $7.70 for final value fee.  Therefore I paid $8.20 to sell my item, which is over 10%.  How can eBay justify charging over 10% to sell something? Beside that the shipping charges are going up and up.  My tiny package cost me $8.65 to ship--so figure that out.  I ended up paying total charges of $11.85 and that does not include PayPal charges.

I noticed they included the shipping cost to calculate their fee, so I paid 10% on the shipping fee as well.  To make matters worse, their shipping calculator is woefully inaccurate, so the shipping I had to pay was 50% more than what they charged the buyer.  The postal workers said that this is a consistent complaint.  At this point, eBay is headed for demise.  I hope it implodes.

I too am very and! Why are the fees not listed when you put an item up for sale? I sold 3 items and got a $88 fees charge. **bleep**!

Basically, sellers are working for ebay and paypal. Ebay an paypal make all the profit. So, I learned my lesson, I ended all the list I had.
I wanted to sell on Ebay to make profit; however I didn't make any profit because of ebay chargestoo much.

Selling fees are ridiculously high.  They give you a small discount on USPS shipping, but then they charge you Final Value Fee on Shipping ... What kind of discount is that then?
