And others of the same topic:

The main concern is this

"Just received a statement in an email from eBay rep that "Re-listing an item and lowering the price over and over to try and get rid of it is in violation of our listing practices policy. "

Is there any truth to such being a violation: and if so what particular policy does it violate???

Hey @donsdetour

We don't have any specific violation for lowering the price. I'm not sure what this member saw, it would be interesting to see the screenshot of the email but it sounds like it was a mistake.

Hello,   I have over 800 listings that all of my photos have vanished.  I reported this issue 8 weeks ago with no resolution. I have followed up many times only to hear, "I will add you to the list"    Do you have any insight as to when this will be resolved or are my photos lost forever?

Last week we were discussing the numbers that are represented on the 1099K.  I know that you contacted the payments team for an answer and that you were only sharing the info they gave you.  What they shared with you was incorrect and this is such an important thing, I'm back to get clarification.

zzzzzz1.jpg

The link you provide above has been adjusted yet again.  Now it is completely silent on telling us at what point does Ebay consider the money as part of the 1099k.

It was reading when the buyer pays the SELLER.  Which is and was incorrect as the money is not in our MP accounts at the time the buyer pays.  It goes into the Pending status while the transaction is being processed through the funding source.

Then it was suggested that it was when the funds became Available to the seller.  But that is simply a status within the MP account, that doesn't actually make the money by to the seller.  That happens after a Payout is sent.  The 1099K goes by the transactions included in the Payout sent.

Here is a pretty easy way to think about this subject that can be complicated unnecessarily.  When you are being paid by an employer and get a paycheck.  The money you earn shows up on your W2 as your employer actually issues you a check.  So the W2 represents all the paychecks you got from your employer.  It does not take into consideration any money that you may not have been paid for yet.

MP is no different.

Hi @mam98031 - we don't have an update on this escalation as yet. When velvet@ebay hears back she will definitely let you know. Thanks!

Another seller wanted to pop in and ask this question but it appears they weren't able to make it, so I'll ask.

We get this concern from many posters regarding the upcoming full credit on Cancelations that are requested by the buyer.

Going on historically how Ebay handles stuff like this, even though the Winter Update was silent on this, they mean Cancellations that the buyer actually requests during the first hour after the purchase via the formal method [for the lack of knowing what it is really caused].  If a buyer simply emails the seller at some later time asking for a cancelation that won't count.  Which unfortunately where most of mine come from.

But in a nutshell, what is the position of Ebay so we can better answer this questions?

In 2020 I was able to match the 1099-K amount from payouts committed during the year.  I am not sure what will happen in 2021 because some payouts included foreign currency amounts from eBay.de and eBay.uk. Will foreign site amounts would be separately reported if the minimum threshold is reached? If foreign site reporting is merged with US reporting how will eBay add Euro and British pound amounts posted in gross income and fee columns? If eBay can convert the amounts, why not also convert them in payout transaction reports as PayPal does?

I would like to be able to add a comment at times -- it's not always about shipping.  Also, the buyer can no longer see seller handling time in listings.  If a buyer sees the seller has shipped the item within their handling time, they are more likely to not blame the seller if there is a shipping carrier delay.

velvet@ebay   I know the answer is have OP's contact customer service however can you check to make sure there are tickets open for:

1. Photo's not loading>  spinning wheel error

2.  Templates > "we looked everywhere" error

3.  Invoices.>  " we looked everywhere" error

I know the best place to have OP's report technical issues is social media but not all members use it.

Hey @comics-scifi-collectibles we do have tickets open for all of these, thank you!!

Where? Could you please post a link? Photos have been occasionally failing to load or disappear after a listing is posted for as long as I can remember. Third-party applications like SixBit can easily restore images to listings because they are saved locally. I know that images uploaded before an item is posted for the first time, or previously if the item had been listed before, may disappear if the image expires on eBay at the while it is being listed.

Hey @clarkphilatelics

I can't share the links to internal reports. If you run into things like this often make sure you're always clearing out your cache and cookies to avoid any issues. Sometimes it may be a browser issue and you may have to use another one or an incognito window instead. If it still persists make sure to get a hold of CS to get added to the ticket.

2 months of missing thousands of photos and eBay's only response is "We are working on it"   I had Dan from leadership helping me with this but I have not gotten any responses from him in weeks.   How can I sell when eBay removed my images?   This is an unbelievable response...

Speaking of scheduled listings...

Not long ago, I had scheduled about 50 items so that I could set them off all at once when my order arrived. Imagine how frustrating it was when I discovered that the option to "Start Immediately" was missing from Bulk edit. I had to go into each listing one by one to remove the schedule (otherwise incur the fees). A colossal waste of time...

The option used to be located here:

I can't show you the action opens below but Start Immediately is not one of them.

Can you find out if this is a priority to be fixed? I used the Tell us what you think option which sent an email to...somewhere...and I asked for a reply. I got crickets. I spoke with a couple of people in support but they had no clue.

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback on this @inceptions currently I don't have an update but I'm happy to get this in the right hands!

Thank you jasmen@ebay ,

Would you report back on what the answer is? Thanks!

Thank you.  I'm not trying to annoy anyone or make Velvet feel bad about anything.  I'm only looking for clarity on a very important subject.  Then I notice today that the policy page change again to be completely silent on the subject.  It appears to me that the Payments team is making this a much more difficult situation than is necessary.  And that simply makes no sense to me.  It simply isn't that complicated.

Re: Community Chat, February 23 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

Good afternoon eBay support team:

Subject: Template Editing and creating New Template failures

There have been numerous threads on this issue and some here today posted about photos not uploading but this issue with Templates not working for Editing or Creating new has gotten a lot of attention.  As a matter of fact, I seem to recall seeing Velvet post on one of those threads, so thanks for that ... but ...

I and others can not Edit Templates or Create new Templates ...

My issues started in the last two weeks and my suspicion is that it was because of the lead up to the Item Specific rollout that happened yesterday ... I would like to know if that is potentially the case and certain functionality with Templates was blocked while the programmers updated the site for I.S.?  If so Sellers should have received notification of this rather then experiencing the failure and trying to figure out what's going on.

One member said they spoke to eBay and were told each account with these issues has to have their account fixed individually ... sorry but that one I have a little trouble with to be honest ... but if it's true then I stand corrected.

Another member suggested it was being done intentionally to try and move more Sellers to the new Unified Listing Tool ... if that is that case then same as above, Sellers should be made aware of these changes before they simply start happening causing confusion and frustration.

I hope these issues are truly temporary and not permanent and would appreciate some reassurance in that area ...

Kind regards,

Mr. L

Re: Community Chat, February 23 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

Item specifics in the Stamps category have been a miss from day one. Aside from using non-standard abbreviations and non-US English to define Item specifics that most collectors would ignore, the effect has been minimal. Most stamp collectors on the US site search by Scott Catalog number, but eBay thoughtlessly focused on "Grade", "Quality" and "Certification". Only a small percentage of stamps have graded certificates. Self-graded stamps are notoriously over graded destroying any incentive to search by grade. Stamp collectors dislike "best match" search enough that few collectors use it. After eBay informed me that the Color item specific for a red orange stamp should be changed to "orange" for "better visibility" I wondered if looking like an idiot would be worth the cost of "better visibility". I concluded that credibility is more important than visibility.

While I can see the benefit of using well designed item specifics to help eliminate some categories. For example, some United States stamps are split into used and unused categories. At one time eBay supported item condition values of "Used" and "Unused" but later removed them before they could be used instead of separate categories.

I do not understand why eBay believes that item specifics can be successfully applied to listings after the fact.  When I first learned that eBay would be defining item specifics, I started incorporating properties and attributes from the Scott catalog into listings as item specifics that could be used to build descriptions. That project eliminated about 80% of the repetitive data entry after a catalog was built. Each Scott catalog number implies a set of properties like denomination, year of issue, subject or topic, design, color, and technical details, important to collectors, like perforations, watermarks, and printing method. Attributes related to production or usage map into item specifics like grade (centering), quality (gum condition), format (single or multiple), or cancels.  Since most item specifics derive from the catalog, I started using it to build listings. It is unfortunate that eBay ignored the Scott catalog and attempted to invent new terminology borrowed from coins. I cannot change item specifics that define listings to match eBay's "required" values. It is relatively easy to populate the eBay required item specifics with existing values. Failure to match in search filters does not seem to matter, suggesting that some or most eBay item specifics are irrelevant. I continue to populate attribute or condition item specifics consistent with Scott catalog definitions without impact on sales. Buyers who attempt to use the eBay filters seem to get random results and stop using them. There are enough sellers of poorly described stamps or stamps with undescribed faults to satisfy buyers who happen to find them using eBay's best match or filters. Properly described faulty stamps can be more easily found by searching by price from low to high.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the "Request Total From Seller" function, in the eBay cart, available for mobile app buyers.  A large % of users use a mobile app.  This should have been fixed years ago.  PLEASE

There really needs to be some clean up in item specifics in glass. Here's just a couple of examples.

As you can see, I have selected Art Nouveau and the time period 1920-1929 (time bands of ten years to small). Then below the time bands don't align and the choices are Edwardian and early 20th century. Of course, I can add mine but the whole point is finding so when I add my own what I am really accomplishing, plus it asks for something related to date like 3X and origin more than once as well.

glasser_0-1645651422024.png

Hi @glasser! You're only required to fill in the Required item specific section. Any Additional item specific options you select are icing on the cake so to speak. Since your timeframe falls into the Early 20th Century dates, I would select that option; but you're free to enter your own or leave it blank as well.

Having said that, if you're seeing excessive/repeated requests for information in the listing flow, please feel free to reach out to sdsupport@ebay.com
