One example of difference in reports:
performance sales report for November shipping labels paid: $882.56
financial statement for November shipping labels paid: $837.87(supposedly whats sent on 1099)
When I do get a call back the CS can't look at the financial statement to explain where they get the numbers

some care. Execs have had to testify in front on Congress. More needs to be done.
Executives with eBay and Amazon, two of the top U.S. e-commerce players, testified before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce about how they're working to sweep up fake and potentially dangerous products before they're sold to their millions of customers. The company representatives emphasized they are willing to work with the government as they step up their various internal efforts.

@valueaddedresource wrote:On Saturday I noticed a change in the Promoted Listings FAQ. I tagged tyler@ebay in this thread but didn't get a response yet.
Here is the page from 11/6
and the same page from 12/12
I am reading these changes to mean that for sellers enrolled in Managed Payments, the Promoted Listings ad fees will be deducted at time of sale, like the FVF is currently.
Is this correct and if so, when will this change take effect? Will sellers be notified in advance or just start seeing fees deducted without notice?
Also just to confirm, how will the TRS $30/quarter credit be applied for those in Managed Payments? Does issuing the credit "toward your total account funds" mean it will be put in a seller's available funds for payout?
Hi @valueaddedresource - I'm very limited in what I'm able to discuss when it comes to managed payments and its interactions with other aspects of your business. I can say that what the terms from your screenshot appear to describe is that Promoted Listing ad fees will now be netted at the time of payment for managed payments sellers (like Final Value Fees are). However, for specifics about how it will work in application, what it will look like, etc, I have to refer you to a payments-trained teammate.
Thank you tyler@ebay but this isn't juts a managed payments issue, it is a Promoted Listings and TRS issue. All sellers need to know about changes like this, not just those already in MP.

I'm very worried if I ever get audited, no way I could explain the numbers. So I'm either over paying and losing money or under paying and get in trouble.

To my knowledge we have some updates coming to the reports in MP. I don't know what changes or exactly when they are coming, but they are suppose to be in the near future. I was told they will notify us by a red alert on our Seller Hub of updated reports. I have no idea if it will cover all the issues we have, but something is on the horizon. I wish I knew more, but I don't.

Thanks for joining the chat this week! It's now closed but we will continue to work through to make sure that questions are addressed.
See you on the boards!

brittanie@ebay,
My goal is to push the issue...not sit back and wait for "sometime in the future".
A campaign of sorts...to be heard as a group of sellers.
Since it takes months and months and months to get known errors to be fixed, I figure if I start now, maybe the program will be expanded before 2025.

Not sure why timing matters.
You really danced around the real heart of the matter. Does eBay take a view on this as fraud. Can the sales of a reprint or reproduction where it is printed right on the item for sale that it is "original oil painting" and "limited edition 1 of 1" be ok and be sold (knowing it is one of 1000 and not 1 of 1). How can this be done carefully when the item has these things printed right on it?
Does it really matter what the listing states? Isn't more important what the item itself has printed on it.
What I see on other listings is the hope that the buyer ignores (or is confused) what is stated in the listing and sees what is printed on the item. The buyer seeing the statements printed on the item might for a moment think it is real and they are getting a bargin. Why read the listing when these statements are listed on the item for sale. They will open a box with the item having these statements - the listing is pretty much gone at that point.
I guess if the listing is either mute on details or is in conflict with the statement printed right on the item itself which governs?
Reproductions are valid if the copyright has expired or the owner allowed the item to be used.
If you do not know, and these are possible "counterfeit" items avoid it.

In regards to the PM icon on the top right side of the community. Along with the new format, which I'm not a fan of, comes an issue. If you read post there but do not respond to it, the envelope icon will NOT turn back to black. You have to respond to get it to go back to black. That can end up being an endless circle between members going back and forth. Certainly annoying.
Hi @mam98031 - well that's fun, isn't it? 🙄
I'm not certain if that's the intended function of the new message system, but I will ask and let you know what I find out!

On a few threads various members have expressed concern over CSRs in the call center having the ability to see their financial information. Just regular CSRs that may or may not be based in the USA. It is of real concern to many. What is the Ebay policy on this?

Good afternoon eBay support team,
Northeast Snow Storm Wed-Thurs
Please confirm that eBay will be automatically waiving Late Shipping defects for the Northeast due to the current snow storm in progress. You can expect additional delays in items that already shipped today before the storm really got rolling.
Thank you,
Mr. L
Hi @mr_lincoln - we work to proactively protect sellers in situations where there are disasters or other natural events that disrupt regular services. We'd encourage you to be communicative with buyers in these situations and consider the Time Away feature as you feel comfortable.
There have not been any announcements made regarding this particular severe weather storm, but keep an eye on the Announcements board for updates!

Just in case we don't get together next week I just wanted to make sure to extend BEST WISHES to everyone. I know the celebrations are different than previous years but I hope we can all make the best of them. My sincere wishes for everyone to have a fantastic Holiday Season!!!
Thanks @mam98031, and I echo the sentiments!
We will definitely be having a chat next week if you want to join. It will just be me in the office, so it will be a 'for fun' chit-chat kind of thread. 🙂
I vote for more recipe sharing !!!! And if I get that Strawberry / Hot fudge pie done I'll post a pic. But I doubt I will have it done by the chat. But I might. I have to get my make ahead mashed potatoes and fruit salad done and my husband will need the kitchen for Pumpkin pies. I'm sure there are other things I'll will be fixing as I like to get as much done a day ahead so that the day goes easier. We have our big dinner on Christmas Eve.
I found that when I was doing it on Christmas day I didn't get to enough Christmas day very much as I was strapped to the kitchen and all that work. So years ago I moved it to Christmas eve. It was an excellent decision. Christmas days is a lazy day and we just eat leftovers. Yummy leftovers!!
Sounds like a plan @mam98031 - I agree on the recipe sharing! I haven't had much time to join the chit-chat thread these last few weeks, but I'm hoping that next week can be a nice catch-up!

I have commented on counterfeit sports cards, and questions I have seen are how can you tell, what’s makes you an expert.
I want to clarify that I am only talking about a specific segment of counterfeits. Sports cards that are less than 20 years old, that contain an autograph/signature, licensed by Topps, Upper Deck, Leaf, or Panini, and that contain one or both of the following specific attributes:
- Are a serial numbered issued card (like 20/25, 1/1, 23/23, 62/75, 018/150, etc).
- Contain a company’s authenticity statement printed front and/or back (some examples)
- “authentic signature"
- “certified autograph”
- “The autograph is guaranteed by Panini America, Inc."
- “This certificate expressly warrants the authenticity of the depicted athlete’s signature”.
- “You have received an autographed game used jersey trading card”.
Think about it. If a company like Topps, Upper Deck, Leaf, Panini would issue reprints with facsimile autographs/signatures and use the above authenticity statements that would be fraud. They cannot express guarantees like the above and deliver a facsimile. That would be deceit and fraud. If such markings cause confusion, cause mistake, or be meant to deceive future buyers, that is fraud.
These companies do not reproduce 1000 or 2000 of the same # 20 of 25, # 1 of 1, etc serial numbered cards. Again these companies do not commit fraudulent practices like making 1000 or 2000 of the same #1 of 1. How is it that a # 1 of 1 would be made a 1000 times and not be deceit and fraud. These are reputable companies.
So if a seller is selling lots of 10 of the same # 1 of 1 card (and has more than 10 lots to sell), and the card states it contains an authentic signature as a reprint (or rp for short), what is your opinion now?
The companies like Topps, Upper Deck, Leaf, Panini are not fraudulent, but counterfeiters are.
Actually Topps did recently create a Mike Trout signature reprint, and the card was clear marked a reprint on the back, and stated “Facsimile signature shown is as appears on original 2012 Topps Bowman autograph card”. That is how they do a signature reprint as a facsimile. They do not leave a statement that it is authentic or guaranteed.
So when I see a 2011 Topps Bowman Sterling Mike Trout RC Auto # 1/1 RP for sale. And printed on the back of the card is “The signing of all Topps autographed cards is witnessed by a Topps representative
to guarantee authenticity”. I can say with 100 % certainty it is a counterfeit fake.
And yes I have spent the last 6 months with the legal and customer service departments of these four companies confirming it.
What is eBay’s going to do about signature/autograph reprints containing false printed statements about their authenticity and multiple copies of serialized cards? Not sure what trumps : fraud or counterfeiting.
Fraud would be nice since that skips the entire VeRo process. Really does not matter who made it. Fraudulent no matter who made it.
@justsc92 We've addressed this for you several times in past chats (For reference here, here and here).
While I respect that you feel very passionate about this, I don't have more information I can provide and you'd still want to follow the procedures of reporting items either through the site or working with the right's owner to report through VeRO.

Glitch in Time Away...........sorry for all the screen shots......but a picture is worth a 1000 words
Note that on the listing, I am away until Dec 18
One the store, I am away until Dec 19
Since the end time is midnite, Dec 18.........The list verbiage is incorrect......."until"
Dec. 18 implies I am back Dec 18......
In addition what does "expect a delay in shipping" mean? Ebay gives an estimated date......should buyers expect an additional delay? Presumably not......discounting the mess with the post office right now.
Does ANYONE every look at this stuff, either before or after publication?
Thanks for this report @dhbookds - I'll get this reported to the product teams!

Hi, I have a question for late shipment protection. Is Ebay going to extend more account protection? I am aware of the current holiday late shipment protection announcement. However there has been a major problem with the post office not scanning receipt of packages or scan forms. To make the issue worse they are holding packages for days, sometimes a week, before they show up with a local scan. This happens both in the post office and with scheduled package pick up. I am not the only seller having this issue. It is posted on the Ebay forums. It is also happening to other sellers I network with. It seems to be a country wide problem not just local to me. I have done everything on my end to try to make sure it does not put my Ebay account in jeopardy. I shut down early in the pandemic when my state was on lock down to avoid problems with my Ebay account. When I opened back up I changed my handling time to three days and gave up my TSR discount. I still ship within 24 hours. I upgrade to priority mail when possible but that does not speed things up. I also tried bringing the packages to the post office closest to the regional hub. Clerks refuse to process prepaid packages and tell you to leave them. I have reached out to USPS CS. I have opened cases with them. I have spoken to the supervisors in my local PO. I am finally in communication with my post master she is trying to address the issue. As of yesterday I have emailed her my scan forms. But that will only help for future issues. The damage is already done from late November/December. For the first time in all my years on Ebay my account is in serious jeopardy. When these defects show up in the December account review. I am very concerned and very stressed out over this.
Hi @deja8318 - I'm sorry to hear that this has been such a stressful time, and am very impressed at the lengths you've gone to manage your customer's expectations, protect and safeguard your business and hold your shipping partners to account. All while continuing to list, sell and fulfill.
I don't have further updates to provide you other than the additional protections mentioned in today's update (link here). I hope that this will help set your mind at ease!
