eBay Authentification Program

Hi Y'all!

Recently bought a watch on eBay for $3,750 from a professional seller. I"m just confused about eBay's Authentication program. If I understand this correctly, any watch selling for $2K and more would have to be authenticated; on watches selling for less than $2K this is optional/voluntary.

My watch has not been authenticated. I have no doubt it's genuine, but I'm curious about what I'm missing/misunderstanding about this process.

Thank you!

Yes, watches 2k and up go through the authentication process before being shipped to the buyer. There are some exceptions.

Under 2k, the buyer can  pay extra for the authentication if they wish.
