Who the heck cares? (#3)

There is always someone who cares.   I know this is TCM's thread & hope she doesn't mind if I start #3.   We can't go without a 'who the heck cares'.

Hola Cathy...! Sorry to hear about that company closing the shop.  That is a tough situation.  (Heron was lucky.  He heard about possible closing of the company that employed the Alt Heron.  Applied for early retirement and it was approved.  Potential problem dodged. Company that had employed el Heron was purchased and broken into segments. Pieces of the company were sold to about 5 different manufacturers).

Apparently there is a 'new system' being used.  Heron tries to click on the 'feedback' button and immediately is sent to 'sign in' page.  Heron is not a very good computer operator.  Did not ever touch a computer until summer of 1998.  Just learned enough basics to operate somewhat.

Sooo, that is the current situation.  The situation started about 2 weeks pasado.

Hola Fruitflogger, two things: A. Was your motor vehicle problem a dead battry?  B. With all those rabbit problems during the icy cold winter weather there could be a possible solution to prevent tree damage. It is called Rabbit Stew...!

The Alt Heron should recap the coast weather for eBay friends:

Wed. 12 th Marzo: Some rain showers during the day & evening.

Thurs. 13 Marzo: Some rain showers during the day & evening with some thunder (Heron did not see any lightning bolts).

Fri. 14 Marzo: Light rain almost all day & evening.

Sat. 15 Marzo: Starting at day-break we had sunshine and the sun has been our pal since then. However, the weather prognosticators have said we 'might' have some scattered showers this day.

Comment re recent rainfall in L.A. County and including the 'burn area'.

These folks received a LOT of rain. And mudslides. And traffic troubles of all sorts.  Also in L.A. County in town of Pico Rivera there was a small toranado.  Knocked down some trees and ruined some house roofs.

There will most likely be more land area slides as the water builds up in the land areas.  And some houses will most likely go slip sliding off the cliff sides.  It is that time of year.  Sad but it does happen.  Anyone wanting to buy housing in L.A. county should be very careful when they choose a residence.  (Advice is free and worth what it costs)

Heron, you always seem to be ahead of the game.

This company is just getting rid of the mills that aren't getting big projects in this area.

That's all they want. Said it was costing them money to get the beams to the worksites because of the distance, which tells me that the big contracts aren't coming in like they used to, because in the past we sent the product to other countries.

Back then the demand would absorb shipping expense or it appeared that way, because they weren't turning anybody down because of distance.

Shirley, the girls look like they're on Spring break.

Ready for the beach.

Dom, that sounds like a very nice place for the 'Lady' to spend her golden years.

Great that she'll have company.

Well, gonna go look around .

Have a good one!

Who the heck cares? (#3)

Thought I had better stop in this morning whilest things are still working right here on da Bay.   Couldn't get into community last night...same thing that happened to Fruit.  Such nonsense!  But, working now this morning.

Heron, bad weather stretched all the way from Texas to here and onward north through KY.   Flooding, extreme high winds (94 mph), hail, tornadoes.  Just a cold front moving in was all.  Began Friday evening, and lasted most of day Saturday ( Mar 15th).   Another cold front moving in today (after the warm up we had and last cold front of the weekend), so wind gusts of 40 mph (no storm), just ordinary windy day bringing another surprise.  May have some snow by morning after being in the upper 70's yesterday.  Are you confused reading this?  I'm living it, it's even hard for me to keep up with it.  Crazy!   And Heron, no, I never did see that movie with Tom Cruise and didn't hear of it before until you asked if I had seen it.   And thanks for complimento, Ha!  I do paintings when I get stressed out...started doing that when I was about 12-13...painting to relieve my mind.

Cathy, that girl and her horse decided to visit New Mexico for their spring break.  She was tired of things and wanted to be in wide open, primitive spaces. She got a blanket for her horse too....

Also, Cathy, sorry to hear about the shop closing.  I think there will be more of that coming down the pike.

Dom, sounds like a good 'home' for your precious equine and she will have company.  Glad you can visit her too...good for you all. ❤️

OK, now I need to get out in the breezy morning and take down the feeders and wind chimes and get a breath of fresh air.  Not sure if I will go for a walk in this or not...will see.

OK....maybe I have figured 💡something out today🤔......either that or just now noticing something 'new' to me that has been there awhile.   When you hover over someone's ID on their post, it brings up member info; like how long has been a member, how many posts, etc. and a widget to click on to send a private message.   Perhaps this explains the difficulties some of us have had to access community boards....when they are in here working on these perks, the community shuts down to disallow our access.   If any of you guys come in here and tell me that has been there a long time, then I'm embarrassed.  Please carry on as if nothing happened. 😊

Me again before I go spray dandelions in the 30 mph winds.

Here's the place to go to to complain about log ins or what ever else.  You will find scads of other folks having similar issues.

Who the heck cares? (#3)

Hola Cathy1751 ...!  Heron has been thinking about your comment re work places being changed.  Heron remembered this: In Jan 1971 the entire sales force plus about 40 'home office' folks attended a big sales meeting.  It was in Scottsdale Aridzooma.  Well, on the third day of the meeting el Presidente stood at the podium in a very large 'meeting hall' and stated this:  I Will Not Sell This Company.

So, on my evening telephone call to Mrs. Heron I asked her to contact our stock broker (what we did in the 'market' was small stuff and our broker contact was a young guy just out of college. His first job as a stock salesman).  Anyway, Heron asked Mrs. Heron to talk with the stock salesman and see if he could obtain any info about the company that employed Heron.  The sales guy called several days later and told us about some rumors that were flying around the industry and involving the co. that employed el Heron. Heron's suspicions were correcto because in summer of 1971 the company was sold lock, stock, and barrel. Sold to a larger manufacturing company. A manufacturer of electrical switching gear.

So, in mid 1990s, when Heron heard some rumors about the corporation being sold and broken into pieces for sale to about 5 different companies, Heron used the same tactic with stock salesman (different guy) to find out additional 'market' information. Heron decided to retire before the selling event occurred.  And it did happen about 3 years after Heron retired.

Heron will state that LUCK is also part of these situations.  Heron has had good employment luck along with good research.  To keep a head of the 'game'.

Hola Shirleys...! Your nice paintings of western style items reminded Heron of his first drive across the great country of USA.  Started from the Jersey shore and ended at Pacific Coast.  Starting about New Mexico through northern Arizona, enroute west; Heron noticed some females sitting alongside of the highway (no interstates at that time of 1960) with signs offering to sell items similar to the items shown in your post.  Heron did not buy any 'rugs' because he knew absolutely NADA about such items. However, they were very pretty items.

Note: The movie Knight & Day with T. Cruise and Cam. Diaz is a great adventure type movie.  Heron has seen this movie about 8 times and enjoys it each time.  Just sayin.

Note: The storm that hit the southern mid-west of USA was the same storm that caused havoc in Los Angeles County.  And we here at the Coast did get a bit of rain but nothing like the pounding of the southern mid-west.  Heron has cable TV and has the national weather channel also.  Hope all is well in your neighborhood.

Hola Heron!

You jumped the gun on your former employers.

Husband was hoping the place would hang on for a few more years, but it was not to be.

Thanks for the link, Shirley.

I haven't tried to log in on the old phone in a while.

Gonna put on a pot of coffee. Raining outside and I'm in a mood .
