usps only allows an envelope after entering my dimensions

Has this happened to anyone? I went to print my shipping label and updated the weight and dimensions. The usps shipping type was switched to an envelope and I can’t change it.  So I switched to FedEx and printed the label.  eBay says my shipping is fedex, but the label printed is usps.  I’d use it, but I’m afraid it’s only enough to cover an envelope. Now what?

How much postage did you pay? If it's for the 20" sign, what size is your box? It sounds kind of wonky to me...

1st Class can only go to 22" longest side (states so when loading a size)

1st Class PACKAGE needs to be thicker than 1" I always put 2" thick (so 10x8x2) even if the item is flatter than the 2"- allows all the USPS to come up (1st Class Package, Priority, Express etc.)

You stated in your listing that it was shipping 'expedited' so that is Priority which would be much more than $8

You need to have the dimensions/weight figured out when you build the listings, not be changing things after it is sold. You may lose money, but what you may now have to do is, package the item up and take to post office to mail. Don't forget to enter the tracking number and mark as shipped if you do that.

If you did change to FedEx, it has to be the same level of service as USPS Priority. It might be ok to use other services as long as they are equal to or better than what was paid for by the buyer even if it comes out of your pocket. Not all buyers like all to have the shippers used changed, some don't like X service, having had problems with them in the past.

On another note, that pen you have listed for starting price of .99 cents. Hope you get some bides on it because by time you pay fees if it only sells for that starting price, you could be in the hole.

"Not all buyers like all to have the shippers used changed"

Sorry after editing that, it does not read correct, should be; Not all buyers like to have shippers/service shown in the listing changed

Any First Class piece that is over 3/4 inch thick has to be mailed as a package, but there is no minimum thickness.

Re: usps only allows an envelope after entering my dimensions

If I understand you correctly, you must have "Carrier Packaging" button pressed instead of Custom Size

.........................................

You need to use the drop-down arrow at the right of the input box to select the proper "Carrier Packaging"

(you do know that carrier packaging consists of presized, preprinted, and officially labeled shipping supplies issued by USPS)

Custom Size uses your input on the shipping label page to offer any and all options...when you first open the label page, your initial settings determine what you see

oh....and read @redmodelt post

"....You need to have the dimensions/weight figured out when you build the listings, not be changing things after it is sold...."

It will save you lots of money and aggravation in your future sales

Are you choosing the FedEx/USPS hybrid FedEx Smartpost?
