thief orders item using my computer.

A thief order a playstation using my computer. I was unaware of the purchase until I received an email about the item being shipped.  I called PayPal immediately and they ended up paying for the item. When I recieved the Item I called PayPal and they said I should send it back. I did not open the package and I requested the proper return address. The company informed me that there is a 20 per cent restocking fee on a 425.00 item. Since I did not order the item and they know that someone who was not authorize to order the item did the purchase am I still responsible for an agreed return fee that I did not agree to?

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

@robertnvn

How did this thief have access to your computer? And why would they have the item shipped to you instead of changing the address? Oh, and how was the item paid for? If by credit card, you should be able to dispute the charge by calling the number on the card.

If you already got paid from PP, why are u concerned about the restocking fee, looks like u will get paid again less the 20%.

OP didn't get paid, he's the buyer. his PayPal account was used to pay for the item.

Maybe he reported it as an unauthorized transaction, so the seller wasnt out the money, paypal covered it?

@robertnvn  can you explain?

This post sounds very fishy. Sounds like you bought something and changed your mind. Now you are trying to figure out how to avoid the restocking fee. Who tries to steal something and has it shipped to the account holder and not themselves?

I did get back to paypal and they will also pay the 20 percent restocking fee.  I will pay the restocking fee but they will reemburse me. I am glad I only use paypal.

Nothing fishy.. the thief ordered twice .  The thief messed up so he ordered again which I was able to stop before it was shipped, the second purchase was to be shipped to another address. The order that came to my house is being sent back. As far as I know Paypal will only have to cover the stocking fee. I believe the seller will be giving PayPal back the money minus the stocking fee. At least that is my understanding.

You still haven't explained how a thief had access to your computer. Has your computer been hacked? If you didn't have the computer out of your possession and this happened, it sounds like you've been hacked. Are you sure it's your computer and not your ebay account. You need to change all your passwords immediately.
