So I have found that when I make a sale and go to purchase and print my shipping labels that the item is automatically marking itself as shipped. I'm not sure why but it is a little annoying that it does that I don't think its supposed to be doing that.

It's not a glitch or a technical issue.
This issue has been discussed ad nauseum but ebay doesn't seem interested in changing the verbiage which can be confusing to those who aren't familiar with the wording ebay uses.
When a label is purchased, the item does get marked "shipped."
My opinion is that instead of "shipped," the language should be similar to what's shown on the USPS website, something stating that a label was purchased and tracking will update when delivered to the carrier.

Yes that is how it works and you can't turn it off. I have noticed that the wording has been changed.

Could be that is still in trial and not every order is seeing it yet. Still, it should say they purchased a label. How does eBay know they are packing it?

Printing labels has always worked that way. It automatically uploads the tracking number on your listing and shows shipped. Are you saying you would rather have an extra step to manually mark as shipped when the mail carrier has it in their hands?

I think packing your order is more realistic than your order has shipped.
When I print a label, the order is always packed, weighed and measured.

That's how it is on eBay.
I don't print any labels until I am getting ready to ship, so then when my buyers see shipped they know it really has been shipped.
