How accurate does the weight need to be?

The price is the same I believe all the way up to the first lb, so how much does the USPS care that the weight is accurate if its all the same price?

You haven't stated what it is that you are trying to ship, so I hesitate to ask, but are you absolutely certain that it qualifies as media mail?

USPS doesn't require a precise weight, when the postage cost is in full-pound increments.
