Why does eBay send messages that an item has been shipped when in essence it only has the shipping label created. I paid for an item 4 days ago, seller just now got around to readying it for shipping by creating the label, but it has not been scanned in at USPS yet. Worse of all this item states delivery date is 01/21/2020. so that means approx. 14 days from purchase, I may get my item...that is just ridiculous. I hope it is not one of those Chinese warehouses ….

printing the label gives the buyer a tracking no. Stating it is 'shipped' could actually be accurate as when my carrier picks up, 50% of the time they scan at the door, 50% of the time it gets scanned in late night or next day when 50 miles away.
what did the original listing state as a 'expected delivery date' (you have to look at purchases in your 'my ebay' and not the most current listing (if they have multiples using the same listing)

Sellers have been asking that very question for years.
That is the way eBay does it. Label prints. Status says shipped.
They did change some text in the messages that a buyer gets a while back to read:
Hi XXXX, your order is being shipped!
