I have a customer that purchased a figurine from me, I shipped it double boxed and put "fragile" stickers on all six sides and circled stickers with a black marker, she received the figurine broken and notified me, I told her it was insured through USPS and she needed to file a damage report with them, she said no that was my responsibility, I don't think so!

The buyer is correct. As the shipper, you must file the insurance claim. Reach out to the USPS as soon as possible so that you can provide instructions to the buyer.....such as taking additional photos for the USPS, or other. Unfortunately, the buyer will have to receive a refund. In parallel, have the buyer open up an ebay case for an item arriving as damaged & be prepared on what to do with the broken merchandise. !st thing is first, reach out to the USPS as soon as possible to meet all the claim requirements.
Good luck!

Fragile means kick or throw me as hard as possible. 😂

I agree, not your problem, your time will not be wasted on delivery service errors. Ebay can figure this one out, you've done your part by shipping it.

Iv spoken with several postal workers, gotta love hearing how tossing packages 15-30 feet sometimes off a second story sorting platform into a pile or bin...
Might as well find a wedding where they plan to honeymoon where the package is going and tie it on the car with the cans..

Nope, actually their part is not done until the package gets to buyer in condition stated.
Thank goodness the buyer can get a full refund from seller

You are correct. It was suspended in July. I am a bit miffed as I actually used it a couple of times for some really fragile stuff I wanted taken out of the machine process.

I reckon it was probably a case of they saved more money by removing the option entirely vs trying to chase down all the money from the people that just slapped the stickers on because they were "free".
It was a higher cost service when the item was pulled from the machine process, but if you are not recouping that cost then it's an added expense.

Oh, dear -- you should read eBay's buyer protection policy, which they call the "Money back guarantee." The seller is responsible for getting the item into the buyer's hands in the same condition as it was in the listing. If the item is lost or damaged, the seller has to provide a full refund.

@blingfling123 I think you had to purchase those stickers, though - so the money for the special handling was paid up front.

The stickers themselves could be ordered online for free from the USPS website.
You are correct though that you were supposed to pay for the charge at the time of mailing. It was not a service charge that could be added through any label company though and many PO's never checked. If a package was put in a drop box or sent through a mail box franchise as well, it was never charged.

Ah! OK - I had missed that. I'd never used them, but knew about the service and for some reason thought I had seen them flat-priced on the USPS website when I'd seen them there once upon a time.

So, customer sent picture of packaging with absolutely no damage but no picture of figurine, I think she's scamming me

She's right. That's the case with USPS and every other shipper. But it's her responsibility to either get you pictures of the box and content, or bring it to the post office for validation. Hopefully you didn't **bleep** her off enough to not cooperate.
