Does anyone know if you use a pizza box as a shipping container how much the USPS will charge? The square inches of the box is higher that a "small" USPS flat rate box but smaller than a "medium" flat rate bo.

Nope. The USPS flat rate prices can only be used for the specific boxes that you can get from USPS which say Priority Mail Flat Rate on them.
USPS also has a "cubic" rate which is based on package size, but eBay doesn't offer it.

@rasma5060 All USPS domestic package postage automatically includes tracking (formerly known as Delivery Confirmation) at no additional charge.
Most USPS rates are based on package weight and distance. Exceptions include not only the Priority Mail flat-rate packaging but also Media Mail (based on weight, not distance) and the Priority Mail Regional boxes (based on distance, not weight). For Priority Mail, Retail Ground, and Parcel Select Ground, a "dimensional weight" formula is applied to packages that are over 1 cubic foot (1728 cubic inches).

Use Priority Mail Cubic. If the box is 15" x 15" x 1.5" you would get the 0.2 cu ft. price. The weight limit is 20 pounds. The price will be different based on distance, but it's always less than flat rate.

Are you possibly using the pizza boxes to ship LP records? If so, they can be shipped at the USPS Media rate, which is considerably cheaper than USPS Priority.
