how to actually file a dispute for additional shipping charges from fedex?

so fedex adjusted the shipping charges that I weighed and shipped...this morning after the item was delivered several days ago...they have done this in the past but its always been very close.  this time they are saying it was almost 15lb heavier.  if this linkage was 17lb, you would break your leg trying to shift the stupid transmission.  I have tried to find where to dispute the adjustment but simply cant find it.  The dispute pages say to use ebay customer support to dispute fedex adjustments but I cant find it.  not in the email, not in my payments page, etc.  where do I go to dispute this?

it has me worried about some wheels I just sold/shipped via fedex as well.  They weighed 45lbs together and went into the same box measuring a total of 22"x18"x18".  buyer was in AL and for some reason the quoted shipping was only like $22 which seemed really really low to me but even with messing with the weights and measurements in the shipping label creator it stayed in the same realm of cost so I let it go.  now I'm paranoid they are gonna hit me with a $40 shipping adjustment in two weeks...Screenshot 2024-08-06 065312.jpg

They've been doing it to me too.  They'll claim something like I said the package was 12# 6oz and they will claim it was actually 12# 8oz and stab on another few dollars despite the actual shipping weight being 13# in both cases with an identical rate.

One time they stabbed $13 onto a previous $10 rate under similar conditions.

It's mostly been FedEx with their new economy ground service.  I stopped using that and for the most part it's stopped although sometimes they do it with home delivery, and then UPS will do it occasionally.

I think they are trying to pull a fast one and increase revenue by going back and retroactively raising rates.  Either that or they are using an AI programmed by a college student they plucked from CS101.

@stackz

Did you try contacting Fedex directly? I've seen some other posts here of the same stating the packages are weighed and measured incorrectly.  With all the new fangled AI features it appears this is another short coming of that feature that's not so great & it's costing people money.   Sorry for your situation.  Hang in there.

I also just received an overcharge that was delivered last week on a blow mold. My measurements were correct. My weight was 6.75 pounds and their weight came under that at 6.4 pounds. Originally I was charged $35.33 for my label and then this morning, another $30.87 was added on and charged me. Adding insult to injury, that delivery is currently in a return because Fedex damaged the corner of the box and damaged the blow mold!

Were your dimensions correct?

Re: how to actually file a dispute for additional shipping charges from fedex?

yes.  I always pre-weigh things and measure them when I do calculated shipping that the buyer pays.  In fact, I add an extra pound or two and add an inch or two per dimension just to over-compensate.  I also check my 2 scales once a month when I drop packages off at either UPS or fedex.  my scale is usually off by half a pound on the heavier side which doesnt bother me.

In fact when I dropped the wheels off yesterday we weighed them on their certified scale.  I weighed them at 45 lb total packed weight, fedex's scale weighed at 43.2lb...I swear if they come back at me I'm gonna be irate.

We also had some additional charges on tires. Would like to hear if anyone knows how to dispute ?

Thank you.

I am not sure about FedX but with UPS there is a list of Surcharges listed on their web-site.  I seen on their list surcharges for tires and wheels.

I paid a surcharge because the shipping container was larger on the top then at the bottom (tapered).  It was like $12 or $15 extra.  It is listed in their surcharge list so I knew to select this option and paid the fee as part of the label purchase.  If I had not of prepaid the surcharge I would have been billed later.

I am in the same boat as well. I shipped an item that weighed less than a pound (a pampered chef oil spray bottle) and FedEx it so claiming it was 18 pounds. I woke up this morning 8/9 to a $18.06 cost adjustment. This is insane. I find it odd that ours are all happening at the same time too. Is these anything we can do because this is ridiculous.

If you cannot get a telephone representative to resolve this then read through FedX’s User Agreement and find out the procedures to file a grievance with them.
