eBay standard envelope service not working

Is anyone else having trouble using the eBay standard envelope option when listing a trading card? A lot of the posts on this topic seem pretty old that’s why I’m asking. I went to post 3 separate items last night and it let me do the first 2 cards with ebay standard envelope with no problem. When I went to list the 3rd card it would no longer come up with the option. I called customer service and she looked into it and can’t seem to figure out why it’s not coming up. She said that she would be sending a report to the IT department and gave me a reference number. Just curious if anyone else is currently having this issue.

I will have the Tech Board updated later this morning to reflect that. If sellers are running into this they can reach out to customer support and let them know that they are experiencing ALERT14476.

Hey devon@ebay - that ticket does not appear to match the issue. Everybody that's come here unable to access ESE when setting up a listing in trading cards has found resolution entering specific dimensions (just like the shipping team made changes to priority flat rates).

The problem I tagged you on is that ESE is available - it shows on the shipping page - but when sellers try to purchase shipping labels they get the error message shown above. Can you check with the shipping team about this? The number of sellers facing this problem has increased of late.

@wastingtime101 Here is another ticket that I found that is open under ALERT14466:

"Sellers are getting an error message "It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong. Please try again later." when purchasing individual label or in bulk. This happens for both eBay International Standard Delivery & eBay standard envelope."

Thanks for checking again - that one does appear to fit.

So @matdo-94 and others running into that error - contact CS and ask them to add your account to site wide ticket ALERT14466

The more people reporting, the higher priority these tickets move up the fix list.

I know this issue appears to be an eBay issue, but have you tried printing your label via the eBay app? Sometimes I have a similar issue on the desktop site but the app usually works. May not work today since evidently ESE isn't working properly with trading cards, but might be worth a shot.

Yes. And have tried...

Multiple browsers, clearing cache, clearing cookies, logging out and back in, etc.

They have a known issue that they say they're working on. Just waiting for it to be fixed.

I was getting the "It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong. Please try again later." message multiple times. Decided to try one of my other shipping sites to see what the cost would be and I was required to truncate the description to 31 characters. Went back to the eBay label and it would print after truncating to 31 characters. I always used to shorten it before but now it seems 31 or less is the magic number.

@matdo-94 Change the dimensions to 11x6x1 even though you're using a 7x4 envelope.

I just got banned for the second time due to the fake tracking they claim is tracking not doing the service its suppose to. I say we all file a class action lawsuit against eBay for deceptive business practices because scammers all the time use that leak as a way to steal from us sellers and eBay never has our back. In fact they will ban you because of there own negligence.

What do the rest of you guys do if your a seller who sells singles but can't imagine someone paying 5$ for a 1$ card.

Ebay has been very helpful to me on this issue. While it is not fixed yet, they have refunded me every cent of additional postage I've paid during this outage of their Ebay Standard Envelope. I'm anxious to have it back up and working, but class action lawsuits are for situations where people have been harmed and a company is negligent. This is not that. This is not 1983. You can't file a lawsuit for being inconvenienced.

This is for ALERT14466, which will hopefully be resolved soon.
