For example they're giving 4 weeks for a surface package from the UK to Canada. If you ask Canada Post boat can reach 3 months due to Covid, and the standard listed on website (regardless of Covid) is 1-2 months. This must be fustrating for sellers...
Have you got experiences (buying or selling) of packages showing up VERY late compared to the estimate?

We use eBay's global shipping programme and our last shipment to Canada took 4 days from us sending the item to buyer receiving it.
I don't know what estimated delivery date eBay had given to buyer but 4 days from order to delivery is exceptional and I would have expected it to take between 10 and 14 days.
shipments through GSP are much faster as they have bulk clearing arrangements with customs in most receiving countries.
eBay showing longer delivery time should avoid buyers filing INR cases.

Your items must go through the gsp depot in the UK. I haven't heard of any similar experiences for gsp items from the US to Canada . Quite often packages are in the US depot a minimum of 4 days.

As a seller, I sell all over the world and delays are still considerable. Canada is 2 months, Australia and NZ, up to 3 months. I have to remind my buyers when paying that the ebay estimates are not even close to being realistic, luckily and despite ebay I have a good relationship with my regular buyers so it gives few problems except with newbies. I am quite sure that ebay does not have even one employee that is busy with checking what transit and delivery times are between countries other than maybe the US. If I sell a stamp to Vietnam, Mali, or Uruguay the buyer will always see a delivery estimate. On what is this based? How does ebay calculate shipping between Belgium and Mali? Does it take into account local restrictions, lockdowns and so on? April 2020 it was impossible to send anything from Europe to most overseas countries, including the US, and this lasted well into fall 2020 for quite some destinations like Australia, Chile, Fiji, Reunion and so on. Still buyers in those countries still happily got fed delivery estimates by ebay. I think you will know my opinion on ebay estimates by now. It's very simple, ebay uses an algorithm that registers users feedback and uses that as a basis for estimates. Unfortunately delayed shipments like now fall outside of the time slot that buyers can leave return feedback so these late arrivals are simply not registered and ebay can keep spreading the happy news that all is well in lala-land and that if your shipment arrives later than their estimate it is only the bad seller that should be blamed.
