eBay and returns.

I purchased a new governor for my ford tractor from a seller in Michigan. I contacted eBay and they recommended I contact the seller. The seller told me to go to the post office and return the part, which I did. I even have my receipt that proves I returned it. The part cost me 214.00 and I told the seller if he sends the right part to me the matter is closed. I checked on the status of my return and EBay says the matter was closed on June 5th. I never closed anything and have returned the part to the seller and haven’t recieved new part or my money back. I have no way to contact eBay for their purchase guarantee., they are saying the seller refused my return but that’s not true and I have no way to speak with eBay to tell them what’s going on. At this point I’m ready to contact my attorney abut ebays service and allowing sellers to swindle buyers.

You don't need a lawyer.

I'm not totally clear on what happened, but if (a) the seller agreed to the return/exchange, (b) you sent it to the address the seller provided, and (c) you don't have money or a replacement ... then simply go to your credit/debit card company and file a chargeback, noting that you returned the item as per seller instructions but never received a refund.

Be sure to keep the receipt for the mailing. You will use it to prove you sent the part back when you file for the refund on your credit card.

What type of return did you file?

Did the seller ship what you ordered or did they send a different part.

The seller has a no return policy so if you received the item you ordered, they could deny the return and close the case.
