custom form and small package

I have a buyer from Australia.  My package is a small 6x2x2 box.  I am going to use the small usps form and the small usps envelope that holds the custom form.  Is it okay to wrap the custom form + envelope around the box.  The bottom will almost meet the top, but not quite.  If I put it in a shipping envelope to use the larger custom form, the size will change and will cost more for shipping.

Re: custom form and small package

I googled the minimum USPS dimensions requirements for package: 6 x 3 x 1/4".  Looks like you will have to put your item into a bigger box. Even if a 6 x 2 x 2 box was allowed, there is a great probability that it would get lost.

Are you signed up for eBay International Shipping (EIS)?

If so, eBay handles all the customs forms, so you don't need to do that part -- you just ship to the EIS hub in Illinois, and eBay handles everything else after that -- including nearly all the headaches with buyers!

In addition to that I seem to recall reading that the post office also has a generic "minimum," that says the package must be big enough to accommodate the label(s).  (No I can not quote the source - it was too long ago). As suggested the smaller the box the more likely it will get lost. Use a bigger box.

Re: custom form and small package

I've seen a lot of negative comments about EIS, so I don't use it.
